Hello, I'm Kimberly and I'm Laura and today we're talking about nervous system regulation in healing and How important this is and how it's affected us over the last Well, I'll say forever forever Infinity and how it never you know You think you're really doing great and then all of a sudden you get slapped in the head again and realize that We're always having to go through these things. Yeah healing and healing never ends. Yay Being human Yeah, I think this is as all topics are big, but I think it's it's incredible how this works and in my work and Laura's This this is something that's happening behind the scene all the time because we know what we're doing And we know why we're doing it It's sometimes like clients will come and have a treatment. They don't realize I'm working on their vagus nerve They don't realize I'm doing lymphatic drainage in my treatment because Sometimes people come for healing, but they don't they don't always know what they're coming for right and you know This has become like such a big thing to talk about in the like energy healing spiritual kind of

Communities and Circles like this it has gotten to the point where I have had and I don't think this is right And I'm just gonna put it out there But I've had clients come to me and say I'm working with this healer I'm working with so-and-so and they're regulating my nervous system And they're telling me that I can't move forward until I regulate my nervous system But they're also saying that it's never regulated and that's just not possible like that You know, yes, some people struggle with the calming part of their nervous system But it's not that you never go into it And so if somebody is not letting you move forward because they're telling you that your nervous system is not regulated yet But you've been working with them for months. I'm sorry. There's something wrong like and red flag red flag Yeah, so this has become like a big issue because I have I have had a few people come to me and say well Like my healer she tells me like I'm not really ready for more and we keep working on this and this and this But here's my thought as we develop and as we open as spiritual beings We often have trouble, you know, we have we have every single person every single living being

We have like, you know blockages and we start again and we shoot forward and then we hit a wall again And that's life. That's growth. That's growth, right? That's how growth happens. We can only grow as far as we can in that moment and sometimes we hit a wall So I'm just putting it out there and saying that yes, we feel that nervous system regulation is extremely important for healing But if somebody is telling you you're never there or you're never gonna get there that's a huge red flag and and I would pay attention and I would pay attention to that because We are always in both states and I have developed quite a bit throughout this time if I was waiting for my nervous system to be regulated I wouldn't be very far right now because because this is something that I struggle with and I Impired in the pun because to me it's like this funny thing that we think we're Like we have to do this a certain way. I think these things are happening all the time so, you know, you can wake up and be tired and and Exhausted and not be able to deal with things as well as you did the day before. So do you go?

Oh God, I can't get through today because you know, my system is not good So I should just go to bed for the day or I should vacate life for the day. That's not you know, that's not possible That's not reasonable right for us to just go. Oh, I must shut down my nervous system It's like, you know, so I think that's one thing that one of the reasons why I wanted to talk about this is It is like a really popular topic right now in like, you know Healing circles will say or like in the you know in this energy world that we're we're living in and You can look at social media and everybody's talking about somatic yoga and you know Yeah, and like making sure your vagus nervous stimulated and so it is important for us to talk about it because this is something that I have Noticed that you have done like without without all the social media hype I feel like you have been doing this for 20 years. Yes, and when people come to see you Immediately, it's like you know how to engage that that parasympathetic nervous system Because that is where you want to be in that mode for healing. Well, I think if I can be completely honest I think one of the things I love about the healing profession for me is that in my mind

What's happening all the time every single time somebody gets on my table whether somebody comes in and they're not a talker or somebody does come in and they're a talker because Sometimes like I have clients that literally will come in and they'll talk the whole time. They're in their treatment But for them, that's how they release So I can I could say, you know, can I have the last 10 minutes to do like release if I'm doing energy work Within it and they'll be like, yeah, sure. No problem But whatever your client is comfortable with is comfortable for me, you know And I just find that there's so many times that people come in to see me and they don't really have any idea The length of healing that's happening in a treatment. Now. I have had some really cool, you know stories where I Find when when you start what happens for me in my head is that when I engage with my client, there's a prayer There's an intention for my client There's also an intention for me not to get any of my ego involved with their treatment. So that's number one number two I feel like spirit takes the wheel. So I'm the observer of spirit working through Whatever techniques I'm using

To help my clients release whatever they're ready to release, right? And that's a part of both of our prayers when we start We're always asking for the highest good and highest healing for our clients and whatever They're capable and ready to release be released in within the treatment And because it's not my ego. I don't know what they need I can talk to them and I can have an idea of where I'm going to go with my treatment But I don't always you know ego is a funny thing It likes to make us pump up our ego make us feel like we're this great healer But in my mind and in my work, the healer is always spirit. It's always your higher self connecting with the physical self and Devine consciousness because you know, we're a micro the macro, right?

So we are a piece of this consciousness and when when we're in flow It to me, it just means that I'm connected with my client And I'm opening the connection between them and their higher self as well as consciousness Period. Yeah, right. Yeah. So that to me is what's happening in every treatment And I've had people come to see me and literally had like earth shaking Like transitions on my table. I mean like blow your mind I've had people came once or twice and it was like unbelievable and then they're You know, they're out and they're doing their thing And I think you have a story about when you had your very first treatment. Oh my gosh. Yeah Well, there's a few things that happened in my first treatment with you that I didn't really expect And um, actually you're talking about the first treatment, but I was thinking about the one There was a treatment a few maybe a few months after I met you And every single time you would work on me, I would go into this Zone like I I call it the zone because I don't really know what else to call it But I was completely aware of my body But it was as if I was having an otobody experience

So I was completely aware that my body was sleeping But my energy was awake and aware So I knew everything that was happening like I I could tell where you were where you were working I could tell when things were moving, but I could hear my body snoring So I'm me too me too, right? So so yeah, of course you could hear it as loud So I'm hearing myself snoring and I'm actually feeling a little bit of embarrassment and I'm going Oh my god, like I'm snoring and this is obviously we didn't know each other very well at that point So I'm I'm aware I'm snoring and I'm like wow, I'm loud But I have no ability to stop it It's like the energy part of me separated from my physical body And so I'm having this like deep Sleep almost but I but my mind was completely awake So my mind would go places and one of the treatments that you did on me I went through past lives And so I went through nine past lives and I remember counting them as I went nine lives like a cat That's so funny. Um, I remember counting them as I went and what the heck and every past life I was aware when I was seeing the past life that I wasn't going to remember

Any of them like I And I was seeing like the major challenge in that life And I was watching everything as an observer and then I would say Something like this is this is a past life. This is not my current life I release and I let this go with love and then it would move to the next one and the next one and the next one And then the last life I did have a memory of that vision But I couldn't remember any of the other ones. I just remembered trying to count and trying so hard to remember But it just wouldn't stick So there's this thing that happens. I believe when the body Like what what we know about and we know about all the all the anatomy and the physical stuff And we can talk about that too, but We know what's happening on the physical level with the parasympathetic nervous system But do we know what's happening on the energy level? Because once the body is relaxed The energy can then can then take over and the energy can can then do the healing I I've always wanted to like prove it to people by when they come in take a picture of them like a picture of their Their eyes, you know, because that's the thing I notice is when people get up off the table It's their eyes. They look there's more light coming through. Yeah, there's a calmness. Yeah So I notice that you know, but if I'm being honest, I have a lot of clients that are coming just for

Like what would I call maintenance? So not my job to tell them what they need healing from and I think when we're newbies and we first get Started in this we really want to help people. So sometimes we're probably pushing a little too hard I think that's a natural thing. You want to help so much But when you really when you start learning about energy and healing At the level we have because here's the thing. Here's how we know these things and we can talk about them They have happened to us So it's like miracles You know, maybe people don't believe in miracles because they've never seen them I've seen multiple multiple miracles in my life as a young child as a young teenager as an adult As a as a mother and a grandmother. I see them all the time And so I have this belief in miracles I believe that if somebody is ready willing and able Anything can happen on the table. But you know, if I'm being honest, it's not me. I'm not the magician here It's universal consciousness being It like consciousness knows that I respect and understand it And I open the door for whatever needs to happen And it's no different than when you do readings

And I I've one of the things that you know drew me to Laura in the beginning was obviously I I had this profound connection to her but when I watched her do her work, you know, I can remember Watching people physically their physiology Like I watched the shift right in front of me And I would watch her put her hand when when things were harder or deeper for her to have to tell somebody You know certain things I would watch the energy. I would watch a shift. I would watch her Like expressing more From a place of compassion and love and she would physically touch them sometimes to create an even In my mind She was looking to connect even deeper with them because the thing that they had to go into was deeper Even if the words aren't all being said the action is being done in energy When you agree without the the way the healing happened. Yeah, it's interesting because that that whole experience for you Was probably deeper because the people that I was reading you already knew them, right?

Well, they were they were my clients. Yeah, you knew them, but I didn't know them. So you were seeing them heal From somebody who has no idea who they are Seeing what they went through and seeing who they are and what they need to hear And so there is something that happens when we connect With someone's inner story, you know Or the soul imprint that they've made in this life And when you connect with that that person feels the authenticity like they feel the connection And they feel like this person can see me and that's huge That's huge for healing and actually being with comforting people people that are positive and You know uplifting it actually does help regulate your nervous system Of course it does because you know what it's like when you're with agitating people Or like people that are like trying to pick a fight with you or whatever like you know what that feels like that doesn't feel good That's like, you know road rage like when you're driving and somebody's cutting you off. That doesn't feel very good So but it doesn't feel better doesn't it feel calmer when you're with people that are listening and they're You know, they're a positive influence and they offer, you know help. So

It's sort of like I'm using the I'm using a whole bunch of different things at once, but I'm connecting to the energy the higher frequency From, you know, if you want to say from the other the spirit world And that higher frequency helps direct me in what I need to say And then I say the things that connect with the person and when I connect with the person They calm down right and they trust right and you know, I I want to say this because I'm a I'm a nanny And I love love love being a nanny You know, when you're a parent, it's like you're going through life In the eye of the storm you're trying to figure things out while you're still moving and it's hard It's really hard And it's no different than waking up this morning and seeing a bunch of sand in our bathtub and I looked at it and I said the Laura. I said, you know, when I was a parent, I'd look at that and go Oh god, another thing I have to do another thing. I have to clean. It's a it's a responsibility and And all these things but as a grandparent I look at that sand in the tub and I see The leftovers of a really good day, right?

So one of the things I love That you know, we can do for our grandchildren is create a space Of calm and connection and that is one of the most beautiful things that I can say that I love about my life And about who I have become is I notice even when we go home to new brunswick I see automatically my son and his wife I see their energy calm. I see my grandchildren's energy calm and that's because They feel calm around me. I create the space for people to feel like there's more There's more space For the parasympathetic. It's like that rest and repair. It happens right Just by me walking into your your presence. So it's my energy you are Yes, and this is this is actually something that you know, I'm I can't think of the Researchers name right now, but this is study. They've done studies on this About how we project like in our energy fields and how people other people feel it And if within your energy field if you're reaching those higher vibrational Like the higher vibrational states

Of peace and calm and joy and bliss you're reaching those higher states Your energy interacts with your entire environment and everybody in it So if you ever notice like I think we should really appreciate plant people for a minute People that have really nice plants like if you walk in their house and all their host plants are beautiful Then you know that their energy is probably pretty pretty damn good You know because they're listening to the plants. They're attentive. They're nurturing But not only that their energy is helping those plants flourish, right So if or if you meet somebody who has you know, a pet and the pet is like really well looked after It looks really healthy all that you know that the energy in that home is probably pretty damn good You know, um, so these are these are some of the things like you Once you can regulate your nervous system You can really help anybody that just comes in contact with you without you even having to do anything This is how I've been talking to my clients for years. I've been saying fix you Fix what's broken within you and watch how everyone else around you responds to that and how everything falls into place Because it's just like I see it like puzzle pieces I see like that one person has

Found a way To to be in this world in a place that feels balanced to them And then all the puzzle pieces around them start to fall into place because they have done the work within them Now it doesn't mean that other people are forever changed It just means that maybe the interactions with you change You know, or maybe the energy around you directs everybody's response to you And nervous the nervous system regulation. I want to say It's not about you being calm all the time. No Because part of your nervous system is there to protect you. So those stress responses Are there to protect you and you need them. Otherwise, we'd be walking doormats. Everybody would just be You know, like just taking whatever comes like, oh, it's raining and I'm soaking wet and I You know, I'm just like everything's just happening to me. Oh, I got a flat tire I'll just leave my car on the side of the road. You know, the universe will look after me Yeah, like Like this is the you're allowed to be upset. You're allowed to be angry. You're allowed to be You know in a place where you need to stand up for yourself, you know, this is not about This is not about us saying you have to be super super duper zen all the time

This is about us saying to you that there's a balance and realness nervous system regulation Is about fluidity between the states Meaning meaning that if you need to move into a stubborn behavior and anger behavior a defensive behavior There must be a reason for that But you must be able to flow back Flow back to the state of calm. And so we this is like the Kind of like the ability to move between the states and not allow one state to take over So we were looking at just like quickly so people aren't confused. We were looking at the anatomy So we have like our central nervous system. That's your actual brain and your spinal cord And then we have the peripheral nervous system That's all the nerves that come from the spinal cord, right and all the signals that come from the brain Those are the physical anatomy parts. We're talking about what's happening within the peripheral nervous system There's a somatic system. So that's somatic nervous system regulates heart rate and breathing things like that when we move into the Autonomic nervous system Then we've got the sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic. So sympathetic nervous system is like fight or flight

Right. That's like your stress hormones. That's like, you know zing, right? Somebody tries to attack you or you know, steal your purse or in a moment I've seen people do crazy stuff and you go who the heck was that because you're like like Laura She is the most calm person, but I have to tell you this little story She does not hardly ever get angry. She does. She's very balanced most of the time And one day we were driving and talking away. La la la la la And all of a sudden Laura does yui in the middle of the road jumps out of her vehicle because she sees this woman in need I didn't even see it going on But this woman had a hot coffee or tea in her hand and a baby in the other hand in like her her seat So she was holding the car seat one hand drinking the other and her boyfriend or this guy He was giving her a really hard time and they were fighting out in public He was pushing her up against the car and she had no hands like she was holding the baby in the coffee And Laura just took right off and jumped out of the van and I was still we were still talking I said what the heck happened here? Where'd she go? What's happening? I look over I jumped right out of the van I didn't even say anything. She didn't know what I was doing I jumped right out of the van and ran towards the woman And of course, you know the guy he got a little nervous and ran off

And I talked to her for a minute made sure she was okay, but I didn't even think about it I got back in the van and Kim was like What if what if he tried to like hurt you or something or what? I was like, I didn't even think about that part I just was like I saw this one with a baby and a hot coffee and somebody pushing her up against the car And I was like turn this car around But that's fight or flake that's that's that stress response where you're like, oh my god Somebody's in trouble, but that could have just as well happened to her Somebody could have been attacking her and this is where the body goes. Oh my god. What do I do? And our body gives us enough energy whether a bear came at you Somebody came at you with a weapon, you know, our bodies are so intelligent So they will crank us up and give us enough energy to run like hell You know and you do stuff where you go. How the heck did I do that?

But it was because you were in a state of fear Your body knows how to handle that But then what happens on the other side of that is the parasympathetic So we call it the rest and repair. That's where people are on my table That's where people are on the other end of the line with Laura when she's doing a reading It doesn't matter which one we're doing and this is why it's so important to take the ego out We don't know what we're doing until we're doing it and we're doing it free flow It's just happening because our intention is pure and we just want our clients to feel better And people are always nervous when they do something new So I'm sure you find this too and people come for their first treatment. They're a little bit nervous And when people have a first reading and I've noticed that even just talking to somebody like about it Like having that awareness that yes I like for them to have the awareness. Yes, I am nervous So if I notice it, we talk about it. So we'll talk about it for a few minutes So as soon as they notice that they're they're aware like they're aware of this nervous anxious feeling They start to calm down almost immediately. It's almost just that somebody sees them and they're struggling a little bit And then we can talk about it. It's okay. It's accepted. We can move on

And then the readings usually I I do my deep breathing and sometimes I notice that just because I'm doing it I notice the I notice my client's doing the deep breathing too. I'm like, that's cool Um, so I do my deep breathing and then we and then we start and You know, it's normal to be nervous whenever you're doing something like that and even, you know, might not be your first time But it's normal to be nervous and that's the thing that we know but the you know The idea like the parasympathetic nervous system Everything that we read about it. It all says rest and digest rest and digest and you think about that How many people have become sick or ill? Because their systems on this high alert and they're actually not digesting even their food Well, and I think the other side of that is people don't realize we only breathe as much as we have to to survive Unless we get into meditation and deep breathing We don't realize how much we're not breathing and what you think about when you're in stress. You're not breathing I do techniques at night. Um, after I had my car accident My my nervous system was really like heightened and it was like all the lights were going off It's it wasn't good And I literally had to use headphones or I have one of those electric beds

I have a massager in it and I got it because of my back so in the accident I had to turn either the bad vibration on or like white noise Just so that I could sleep now I can't stand that and I wouldn't do that today because that would drive me crazy But then my nervous system was so overstimulated that that's how I got through it And I see young kids today with terrible anxiety that they're doing the same thing But it's for different reasons, right? And this is what we have to address But there's there's so many things, you know We don't really realize how incredible our bodies are and our minds are and how everything's connected And so many times people will have a reading or a treatment and they'll leave and they'll come back and say You know, I felt like a wet noodle or I was really like daisy or dreamy or Or I had lots of energy or I had no energy Usually when I love I love the one where people say I had no pain for three days. Yeah, I love that But of course because you're directing like that energy redirection That's what the parasympathetic nervous system does it actually tells your body to redirect resources Into your muscle tissue to decrease inflammation and to heal

And also to make sure that your your digestive system is absorbing everything that you need To continue to feed all those tissues, right? So it's like an amazing thing like our bodies Our bodies are like these amazing miraculous things, right? So and when we realize it like I know I'm the other side of this because I I really do live in the earth And I really do do things like every day. I rakey myself Every day I Most days I do reflexologies of my hands and feet I do the needle bed, which we've talked about multiple times because it I know I have to say regulates the nervous We are slang is needle bed. It's an acupressure mat. Yeah in case you're trying to find one And we have actual real needles. It's this it's these yoga mats that have like a pillow full of all these little steel You know prongs that are are tiny And I lay on it every single night for 30 minutes And if I don't like if I my restless leg is I would say without exaggeration I'd say probably 80 85 better. Mm-hmm. It's it's amazing And yeah, and that's a funny thing too is the a lot of the things that we suffer from like restless leg or inflammation It it it is all connected to the nervous system kind of being too heightened, you know

And overstressed. We have had some listeners say that they've bought an acupressure mat because they listened to us And I just want to say that's so cool. Yeah, it is I'm still I'm still reaching out there to the companies, you know, like we'll we'll uh, I know at some point, right? We'll be a sponsor. Yeah, but the thing about this is that I'm in this work full time Laura's in this work full time. We're making a full time living doing what we love And we don't we don't take this lightly We have to do things ourselves and there's times when either one of us are in moments where, you know, we know we're We're right in the middle of a big shift A big Evolvement, uh, you know something that's happened. That's it It's requesting us to get into a place within ourselves where we go Okay, maybe we have to relook at how we think about this or relook how we're living You know, for me, it was you know remodeling and renovating our home and up and down ladders and it stressed my My body out because I already have Um, an ongoing problem with my back and I've had it for 20 years But I've avoided surgery for 20 years I've eternity to this and I don't like to give them any energy because I don't live like I have them Because in my mind we all have something

So for me, there's certain things I have to do to be good Drinking water has become a thing where if I don't drink enough water, I feel it right away If we don't walk and move I feel it right and that's it so when we were looking at ways to activate the Like the parasympathetic nervous system We're reading through these things and Kim was going wow, I'm doing some stuff, right I notice how much I do right because deep breathing is number one And I'm going to share a little breath with you that I've learned Um through different things actually it came to me from different sources But um if you can breathe in twice through the nose And then take the longest breath that you can out like exhale the longest you can through the mouth And do that a few times it it wakes up your parasympathetic nervous system It puts you in that state So if you're having like um a little bit of anxiety or something That's one way to do it and we also teach box breathing So that's when you breathe in for four seconds Hold for four breathe out for four and then hold for four again Before you take another breath. So those are some deep breathing kind of exercises But Kim is like, you know, she is In mindfulness most of the time I would say And also, you know meditation is important to us

The and sometimes for people like with me with clients They'll say I I really can't meditate or though and what we don't realize is walking is a form of meditation That's why the um The camino is such a big spiritual thing. You're walking every day. You know, can you imagine like I can't wait to do it But that gentle movements are really important. That's why Um yoga is really nice for this and tai chi is really nice for this. I love tai chi So if you can if you can find something that where you can do gentle movement and gentle exercise It's very good for you walking swimming yoga. Yeah And I think one of the things with me is I was never really good in the beginning at meditation But I did japa meditation, which is when you know, and I couldn't breathe my throat chakra and heart chakra were blocked There's cold pumping off them like I I know I had lots of shit I think that's what makes healing easier for me is that I know we're all human and we're all going through it We're all at different levels, but the japa meditation is when there's a deep inhale and then on the out breath you're using It's the vibration I was just working on my grandsons the other day and I was doing a treatment on them

They've never been in my actual office having a real treatment with me So we're they're here for the week and we wanted them to have the experience And Laura was helping me work with them and holding energy and doing things as well And my oldest grandson I was doing the potment because he's a very emotional little guy Who is like 100 percent about his family and he sometimes takes on more than he realizes he's taking So when I was finishing his treatment because for him his treatment wasn't As fluffy as his brother's because his brother's personality is like wet noodle. Oh, this is so nice Oh, yeah, but the brother the older brother is more stressed and he has his body is really tightly wound So some of the treatment was actually physically Uncomfortable for him. It was he was sore in places But when I did the depotement, which is just tapping on the body It's really good for releasing energy from the fascia, which is what stores our emotion So here's this little tightly wound guy and I'm doing the potment and he's going Just automatically but what he doesn't realize is that's the perfect response because he's his body is saying

I have a really hard time letting go. I don't know why this is so awkward for me And then I'm doing this thing that he thinks is funny and he's doing this response Which is an actual technique. It's depotement And it release it's releasing Right there in front of me and I'm laughing to myself going man. I love my work I know when you were you know, like I'm sure you remember when you're a kid and somebody bangs on your back and you go Yeah, it's all he's doing it stimulates the vagus nerve. It actually does so and so does humming and singing So it's like he's doing that intuitively Well in the other grandson, he sings all the time my kid's saying all the time I sing all the time. That's like one of my favorite things, you know And we need to do these things more because They're so good for us But we we've become so closed up so You know focused on whatever is in front of us that we think we need to do versus relaxing and taking time To just be right, you know well, um and just because we're on the topic of the vagus nerve and because this is another like This is another kind of sticky point. I feel like um in the vacuum of social media Because people tend to get stuck on these things and they talk about one thing a lot Um, you know your vagus nerve. I gotta say

I feel like a lot of times we're paying so much attention to things that we it kind of has the opposite effect Like it's kind of like we're giving the negativity of A side of like the negative side of something we're giving it so much attention Yep, and then we're and then we start freaking out and going. Oh my god. What's wrong with my vagus nerve? Everybody's vagus nerve is like, you know, this is bad. Well, we live in a time of stress Let's let's stress people rate the hell out all the time. Let's not let's not stress Over trying to get de-stressed. Okay I don't like that. That's exactly right right now. This is an epidemic. I believe me because Stress is normal right stress is normal in life And it's normal for human beings to feel stress our nervous systems are set up for stress What is not normal and what is really detrimental detrimental to us is stressing over stress And then some more that is the worst thing you can do and there again There's been studies done on this that stressing and I think this came from. Oh my god. There's a wonderful book Uh warrior goddess training program by heather ash McNair McNair McNair Beautiful book if if you can get that book. It's amazing warrior goddess training program

She says in that book that that is worse for you It's worse for you to stress over stress that it is just to have stress and then deal with the stress So when we're talking about the vagus nerve I'm sure your vagus nerve is fine I don't think you need to worry that it's blocked. It's not working whatever The vagus nerve is there for you to stimulate when you are feeling like you need it But not there for you to try to focus on it all day long and think about it and think oh my god, what's wrong with it? so Deep breathing is good cold exposure If you don't like being cold what I do sometimes when I'm feeling stressed is I put I just wet a face cloth wet a cloth Cold water and put it on the back of my neck Yeah, or a nice back or the last few minutes of the shower turn it on to cold and let it beat on your neck Singing like we said Gargling humming the the vocal cords movement actually stimulates the vagus nerve So if you're a talker if you like to talk your vagus nerves probably really good It's probably really healthy But you know what this reminds me of we were just reading an article a couple weeks ago about the liver And you know, here's the funny thing about the liver. The liver is constantly detoxing the body. That's it's sole

Purpose so it's constantly it's never not doing its job So for us to say oh, I have to this and I have to that I got to be honest I love this work. I've been in it for 20 years and it is what's brought me to the most incredible place of happiness however We live in a time where social media is the next best thing the next best thing the next best thing and it's it's like It's really taking over our life. Here's the thing you get to this place Where I can be honest and saying in my I'll call it my last life with my ex in that life You know, I was working towards everything. I thought I ever wanted, you know, beautiful home You know a reliable vehicle, you know, whatever those things are But I didn't have the one thing that I wanted the most and that was self love like true connection And avoiding not avoiding wrong word being able to deal in moments with things without it taking over my life And that's one of the biggest things I love about I'll say my new life is I have the space To deal with things as they come and put them where they need to be But totally that trust is a big thing So so many times, you know, it's the thing about the liver is the lymphatic system wraps around the liver

That's what the problem is if you're not moving enough If you're stuck where you are, whether it's physically mentally spiritually or you're pumping yourself full of toxins all the time So it's like I've always been the person I can cook like a son of a gun And Laura can cook like a son of a gun and we love cooking You know last night I had this moment where we were having fish and potatoes and green beans and I looked at it and I went Oh my god This everything That almost is on this plate the fish came from a fisherman that we got from one of our guys But the herbs that were on it came from the garden The potatoes came from the garden the green beans came from the garden the garlic came from the garden And I had this aha moment where I was like, oh my god I'm living the way I want to live. This is like so incredible to be at this place I I don't care about the big fancy car. I have a beautiful home beautiful yard, but it's It has been very inexpensive compared to what things are today. I'd say yeah Well, you're leading me into that that present mind And what is really good for the vagus nerve is being outside right my favorite place And so you have found a way You know to bring that into our world completely where you're growing our food

And then we can sit down and enjoy it and have it that that is what you had in that moment That present being present is that moment of mindfulness that wow look what we created and I felt like a like You know you feel a little bit like silly because you're just so in awe you're going Oh my gosh, this is so cool. And the thing is is the more the more you pay attention to the important things The more the important things pay attention to you and what I mean by that is that You know, I have really given myself the time to play in the dirt and listen And and at first I think it was my my nerve pill. It really was the thing that helped me Calm down center myself be able to handle because Laura and I have a crazy crazy busy life And it's a big big life And that means that you better be prepared if you chose a big life lots of lessons Lots of like learning on the fly and and sometimes you feel like you need to take a deep breath But it's beautiful. It's all these beautiful incredible Realizations that you have and and the the simplest things become So important to you and all the things you thought were important They kind of fall away because it's not about having a big nothing against

You know the big Denali's or the big, you know, I don't have to worry about things But that's you know, that's a nervous system Retraining what you're saying is you're retraining your nervous system to invest in the things that make you feel the best And looking at you know, a big honking car in the driveway, you know, honking payment and with a big payment Maybe that that might be for somebody else, but that's not for you. That doesn't make you feel Like you are present and mindful and feeling calm. So Well staying in the state for me is so important now that I'm here. It's like I'm very careful How far outside of my boundaries I let myself go because I don't care about the things I used to care about Living in maybe you have picked a place to live. That's very beautiful But if it's too expensive, then you're working against your nervous system So you're working against what you're trying to you know, create or solve and that's not okay We need to be looking at what is best for What is best for us in a sense that we don't have to stress our system to have it and this is like a retraining

So we we we're kind of like kind of combining a lot of you know, things here today But all tying back to the your actual nervous system And we're not talking about the the you know, the the bits and bobs. We're not talking about the physical parts Exactly. We are talking about the parasympathetic nervous system because we need to get in that space We should be getting in that space and we're sleeping But if you wake up in the morning and you've been clenching your jaw all night or clenching Your shoulders are all jacked up and you're they're up by your ears and you feel tight Well, then you didn't engage your parasympathetic nervous system all night long So and this has happened to us because one of the things I find is Pardon me. Um, I did live in a lot of stress people were very stressed But my mom had four kids and you know, I noticed that with my son and his wife and their four kids It's a lot and no judgment like I can't even imagine. I only had two kids um, but One of the things I noticed about myself was I always felt like I was Clenching my whole body I'd be tight and then I'd be in a moment of awareness going. Oh my gosh Why am I so tense? But it had been from my whole childhood So this was this has become part of your makeup, right? And then but you have to have the awareness

How can you fix something? How can you heal from something if you're not in any awareness of it whatsoever? I had people come to me for treatments and You know some really hard stuff happened to them as a child and I don't know I only know what people tell me but then in a treatment I can find out a lot, but it's not my business to talk about that stuff because In my mind and and I'll ask you your opinion on this Hypothetical a woman is molested or raped as a young person She might have no awareness of that. She might know she has a lot of things that Um are connected are connected to that and and ways she feels and and how she's held herself a certain way And protected herself, but she might not know that's that that's happened in a treatment I might have an actual awareness a picture knowing The information being given to me on from some form of spirit telling me Uh that it's happened, but it is not my job to pull that out and to say hey, I know this happened to you Oh my gosh, it's almost like Rewounding them all over again. So what I had to learn because it actually happened to me quite a bit I would say one out of every three women when I first started

Some form of of that kind of sexual happened And it was it was heartbreaking for me So but the thing is is that I've also had women come that have had that And they had literally said after a few treatments. They said, I don't know what it is you did And they said it really freaked me out at first But I can tell you that I now have an awareness That this thing happened to me and now I can start moving forward with a healing Routine that would help her work through that I would listen there there is no greater gift than being able to hold space for people and to have a good listening ear to help people through and Doing this work for me is like I'm the lucky person I feel so grateful that I get to do this because The thing that it's happened is it's a double it's a double win because I win by helping my clients But I also get the healing myself Because I've had my own realizations about my own life And some of the stuff that's happened over the years and I've have the knowing of realizing that this can be This as well can be healed that you can you can move through this you can

Become the person that you're meant to be this is just something that happened to you And I don't mean just because some things are really horrific that happened to people and some things are a little lighter But they still all wound us and I remember years ago my wife saying, you know Everyone's story is their story and to them it might be absolutely terrible But to somebody else that might be such a miniscule thing because they've been through really big things And really horrific things so it's we're not the judge We're not the people to get to say oh yours is level one yours is level two that that doesn't fly. That's not how this stuff works It's whatever your client is capable ready and willing to let go of whether it's on a physical Subconscious whatever level it's just about creating the space for it to happen And I I myself have had um I went and did my second level Reiki and When I did it I'm telling you one of my friends was well one of the best counselors in in new brunswick And she redid her second level with me and it's funny because she was writing a book about trauma And I always know stuff's gonna happen before it happens. I don't know what exactly is gonna happen

But I'm always game for the crazy. I'll tell you I've never backed off from crazy healing and I get on the table after my attunement and everybody's working on me And all of a sudden this crazy thing happened where my legs were jumping around like somebody set an electrical current in them And they were literally jumping off the table to give you context I had two people and three people on each leg trying to hold them down as if that was going to help because they were They were a little freaked out in the moment and my Reiki master Was sitting beside stand beside me and all she did was say where are you? How old are you and we walked through a traumatic experience? I had as a child And my legs jumped for quite some time But not that bad that was the worst it was But what had happened was through the treatment The trauma that was stuck in the body and the the blockage I'd say You know it was able to have space For more energy for more light to to create and be pushed through me And I always we talk with this all time I think last week we talked about shedding and how shedding is about creating more light in the body

More light more healing more growth So so we would call that because the somatic nervous system is all about the muscles and all that So that's sort of like that somatic release It's whatever has been trapped in the body in the muscles And a lot of people that have very traumatic experiences in their life That's when they get to a place that's safe and the body is ready to release That is a very typical trauma release and For you to go through it and rakey just shows how How much that rakey connection meant to you in this life and it meant to your system And how much that kind of opened that door in a place of safety and you were ready to let it go but You know that that can take it can take years for somebody to feel ready The funny thing about it was it was like this Like my reaction in the moment was of course there was tears running down my my face But inside of me I was so grateful that I was so okay with being vulnerable around these people I didn't even know right so for me it was like This was a miracle in my mind because I thought wow Here's this incredible thing happening to me. How lucky am I?

I don't think everybody would explain it this way, but for me it was like wow This is this is profound for me the fact that my body trusted That moment to allow that energy to be released from me And then I was like going like Like a crazy person in the sense that I was like, oh my gosh. I love this I love this shit and I just kept doing more and more and more And I was I was probably growing going way too fast way too quick And I really wanted to help people like probably way too much But I did have to learn to calm myself because I'm a very curious person and anybody that knows me knows I have a very big energy and not everybody knows how to read energy the right way Because yes, I'm a very big energy. I'm very confident and all that but I am such A massive lover of life And I wish everybody could feel the way I do And experience love for life the way I do But I work very hard to stay balanced within that And I know what I need to do to stay balanced. That's why when I picked this topic today I was like Kim at first. She was like, I don't know. But what do we say?

And I said, what do you mean? What do we say that you are all about nervous system regulation? That is that is you, you know, that is what you do And I know people have said to you before like for you to heal through some of the things that happen to you And get to this place in life and have this perspective It's pretty amazing because a lot of people don't get there And they don't get there because it's hard because we're not really We're not really taught how to Manage our emotions or manage our feelings or how to go through things And so when we were planning to talk about this and I was going through everything and Kim was going, oh, oh, yeah Oh, yeah We could talk forever about most topics but but sometimes in the moment We're we're human and we have our own life going on and you know, we love doing the podcast But sometimes, you know, we're doing it right now with two grandkids downstairs and a painter You know at our window Finish painting the house because Kim's tired and Kim's learned to say hey I've I've reached my limit and I'm gonna allow somebody else to finish this for me. Yeah So I think I I think we have to We have to conclude this podcast so we can check on those little boys and Probably see if they're through their snacks and movies and all that But again, we thank you so much for listening and part of part of this

Idea of nervous system regulation if you can just remember that having really good people around you and really positive influences Really helps you to navigate This kind of sea of your nervous system and how it reacts to your life And one thing I want to say is is to me what I see on social media And it's part of one of the reasons why it's been so hard for me to get back out there And and have a presence on social medias. I don't like a lot of how things are happening because We're in a place where people are we have more anxiety and depression than ever before but we have more Um, what's the word I'm looking for like it's easier than ever before we have the conveniences of of uh Washers and dryers and all these appliances that make our life easier and what do you call those things air fryer?

Like oh my gosh, and we have so much information But we've hit a place where there's too much information People are on their phones going what's this and what's that and google google google more information Our poor brains worse like Laura said earlier worse stressing about stress. We're stressing everything has become stress Oh, don't eat this don't eat that and we're not you know, we're not meant we're not meant to exist this way No, we're not meant to work too much We're supposed to be out there learning the things we need to learn for ourselves Instead of being drawn into the information overload and continuing to Search and search we're not supposed to know everything and and knowing everything is actually stressing people out more Right, and it's what about we I'll tell you what I see I see that we have become so desensitized That we're not paying attention In a time where intuition should be so incredible And so out there and easy it is not People are losing their intuition because they're focusing on that phone or that computer telling them the answers It's just like when gps's first come out People knew how to figure their way through things, but then they're gets stressed out because it's now now now That's not okay

That is not okay We have to trust more that we have everything we need within ourselves And that we are always going to figure it out because we always do That's right. So we'll talk to you next week If you're interested in contacting Kim for soul awakening coaching, please contact her at mksoulcoaching.com If you'd like to check out my website and everything that I do, please go to laurawarrenmedium.com
