Hello, this is Kimberly. And I'm Laura. You're so cute. And today we're talking about it's not a breakdown, it's a breakthrough. Yeah. I love it. I'll tell you why, because I've had a few in my life. Right? So I'm relating this like absolutely, it's a breakthrough because it's a spiritual awakening. Right. Okay. When we have breakdowns in our life, it's because there are things happening that need to change, need to shift, need to move out of the way, things you need to release. So we have everything that happens we know, because Kim and I work on this idea that everything happens for us and helps to elevate us as people and spiritual beings.
But what I've noticed over the years is that we're really hard on people that we view as having a breakdown. And really they're just struggling. And if they had all the support they needed through a breakthrough, it would be educational, it would be helpful, it would be growth, you know? So I'm looking at this, I see breakdowns, not as breakdowns as breakthroughs. And I know Kim and I, like we've talked with this a lot and she agrees, but I'm also saying that breakthroughs are an opportunity to have a spiritual awakening. I love the way you word that. So you can't necessarily always say that a breakthrough is gonna lead to a spiritual awakening, but if you're open to it and ready for it, the opportunity's there.
Absolutely. And I think for me, I have a memory of being 14 and my mother at the time, like, you know, again, my mother had four kids at 21 and her and my dad were kids bringing up kids. So it wasn't easy. And even, I think that's the beauty of when you know that you live through a lot of dysfunction, mental illness, it doesn't, that's a great thing to understand where you were and to accept where you're going and where you're at now. And I think for me, watching my mother go through a breakthrough, well, it was a breakdown at the time because they didn't have as much information as they do today. So it was this terrible thing. And really, I would say she was just burnt out, you know, but sometimes it takes, it takes a lot of different things to make us hit a wall because we're stubborn, we're passionate, we're, you know, we have perseverance.
Doesn't matter. Sometimes it's our childhood that made us stronger or made us weaker, you know? So I remember my mother having one. And then when I started to have my own, I thought, oh no. And immediately I thought, what's wrong? Because I knew you don't have a breakdown unless there's something at a balance in your life, right? Right? And I mean, it can be good or bad. Sometimes people have them, you know, because they realize they're not as happy as they thought they were in their marriage or they realize that they hate their job or they realize that they love their job because it affords them the financial, you know, energy we'll call it, to be able to live the way they want even though their job isn't 100%.
So, you know, I always say whatever makes you happy, whatever you can live with is the best answer, but breakdowns are breakthroughs for me. Yeah, and I think we can flip it. So we, like, some people, when they don't have the awareness of what's happening to them, it could be a breakdown for them. Yeah. But if you are listening to this and if you can absorb this awareness that when these things happen to you, it's an opportunity, it's an opportunity for growth, it's an opportunity for learning, it's an opportunity to open up to your actual life path. That's beautiful. If you read anything Carolyn Mace has written, she talks a lot about this time for people, usually mid 30s to like, you know, maybe high 40s.
In that time, most people have a spiritual awakening. Absolutely. Most people do, but what happens is it's brought on by something that is negative. So because it's brought on by a life event, maybe somebody's ill, maybe bad diagnosis, somebody passes away, or it's something else, maybe a host, maybe your family home burns down, maybe car accident, you know, something. So a major life event occurs and it's negative, right? And then we take that major life event and we think that that is going to dictate the entire experience. Whereas you could look at it and say, that is a negative life event. I didn't like that that happened. But why, why did it happen?
And why is it here? What is it meant to teach me instead of going, like, why did this happen to me? Like the universe hates me, you know, or like, you know, or what hates me. I always love that. You know, like, like instead of going there, we have the choice and the opportunity to go to the place where we say, wait, this is a really bad thing and I can recognize that and I can feel that and stay in that feeling. But I also want to explore. I want to be curious about it. I want to ask the universe, what is this that, what is, what do I need to learn from this? And what can come from this that can help me grow? That's exactly the thing. And what can I learn from this? That's what I hear in my head every time something shows up in my life. I go, what is this here to teach me?
Yeah, you know, because for me, I don't know. I think once you get on the right side of this stuff, you really start being grateful for all the moments that you get put into a hard place, hard situation that you get out of with ease. What makes, what makes these events worse is when we have people around us where we have our own ideas and beliefs that keep us in the energy of being a victim. Because then you have no, you have no power. You have no power to overcome that problem. So major life event comes forward. You know, it's triggering all these feelings in you. Maybe it's triggering your insecurities or it's triggering the things that you actually need to learn from.
Like it's, it's, these are themes in your life. Maybe it triggers poverty. Maybe it triggers, you know, abandonment. Maybe, maybe it triggers self doubt, but whatever it triggers, that trigger is your lesson. You have to go into that trigger and see what it's, what it's there to teach you. And once you overcome it, you overcome it, which is the coolest thing. Now I know that I have, I have some themes that keep showing up for me. But what I've noticed is, especially with our, solar eclipse today, I noticed that these themes continue to show up, not because I haven't healed, but because at the time, the event that brought up that theme, I couldn't heal to the level I needed to.
I didn't have the capability or the capacity. So I'd only like peel off one layer. And then I'd come back to it when I'm a little stronger and then come back to it again when I'm a little stronger. So it's not that I'm not doing the work. It's more that there's only- Deeper healing. Yeah, there's only so much, but that doesn't happen with everything. Some healings are like spontaneous and just very quick. And it can show up at any time. There's no specific thing that brings them out. I don't find now. It could just be the simplest thing or the funniest or just something different. I do want to mention too, like spiritual awakenings can happen in a really good way. You don't have to have, you don't have to have a breakthrough. You don't have to have a like a negative thing happen to you. You could just be deciding be like, I was really drawn to read history when I was kind of debating whether I was leaving the Catholic church.
I was really drawn to just read history. Like, who wrote the Bible? Like, why was it written? What did they do with it? Like, and you know, how long was it written after Jesus died? Like just so many questions I had that just appeared. I can't say anything really triggered it except that my oldest child was baptized and I was trying to take them to church and they would scream bloody murder every time we went in the church. And I was like, why? Like, I didn't know if like they were feeling something in the church. They were perceptive something in some way. So I started reading stuff because I was like, well, wait a second, it's it made me question. Like my youngest was like, why would a baby cry in a church if a church isn't supposed to be a place of goodness and love and, you know, divinity?
Like, why is the baby so upset? Probably, you know, a lot of... That's another part. Right? A lot of crazy people in there. I don't know. You said that and I went, oh boy, could we ever go somewhere with this? But we won't. Yeah. So I started reading and the knowledge is what awoken. It woke something up in me that I didn't realize was there. It was like reading truth really opened my eyes and I started to see my faith differently. And I started to see kind of like my own personal truth and my personal truth didn't match up with what the teachings of the Catholic church were. So it really helped me see that I didn't fit there. And so you can have a spiritual awakening with other things. Yeah. But no matter what way you look at it, it's just, to me, it's just this thing happened.
And then you get a new awareness about that. So it doesn't matter. You can pick whatever topic you want. It happens to me this year, 2026. Oh my God. It's like awakening, awakening, awakening, awakening. I feel like I'm getting smacked with them. But in a beautiful way, not like they used to be where they were, almost they heard every time they came. Now it's like this deeper knowing and the more you fall into it, it's like it's expansive. But see what's happening to you now is you've had those earth-shattering spiritual awakenings. And now you know what they're all about. And you know how it goes. And I love them. Every time you get a good idea, a good perception and new awareness.
So it's like there is a carrot at the end. You know, like you're not in it and it's just terrible the whole way through. Like now you know, like, yeah, this is uncomfortable, but it's gonna be okay. And it's gonna work itself out. And then there is gonna be that new knowledge or awareness at the end. So you're allowing it to happen now. Whereas before it disrupts what we think our life should be, right? It disrupts you. And so that disruption, I think we tend to feel like that's negative when actually it's putting us on the right track. So for me, one major spiritual awakening I had was a car accident. And I couldn't figure out why it kept happening. So when I was 17, I stopped at a crosswalk in our little community.
I looked over the crossing guard was a lady that used to babysit me. So I was like, oh, there she is. There's Cheryl and there's her daughter and they're gonna cross the road. So it's very idealic, like very countryside living, whatever. So I'm sitting at the crosswalk on my way to high school and somebody hit me from behind. And there was like a long, like I had no idea. I had no idea this guy was gonna hit me. I didn't have any warning and I blacked out. So when I came to, there was all this commotion and things happening, but in the end I was okay, but I had a head injury, mild head injury. And it messed me up for grade 12 because all of a sudden I couldn't think straight and I couldn't focus.
But what it did was it opened me up to my artistic side. So I was spending a lot more time drawing and painting because it made me feel better rather than staring at print and trying to figure out complicated math problems. So it did something to me. And then there was another accident. And same thing, not like it wasn't my fault, but somebody pulled it in front of me and I had nowhere to go. So I hit the car. And then much later I'm teaching, you know, and I'm in my career and everything. And I leave at the end of the day to go to the daycare to pick up my son. And I'm just sitting in traffic, kind of minding my own business and somebody smacked into me from behind.
Now that accident was there was more injuries and more rehab and things like that. But huge spiritual awakening because that started me, it kind of opened me up to see that my life had to change. I had to make some major changes in my life. No, I didn't want to, nobody wants to, but it served a purpose even though it was a terrible thing to happen. And I remember when it happened, I was like, why? This is like the third time in, you know, not a lot of years, like maybe 15 or 16 years that this has happened. So kind of like put you off where you go, oh, why me? And why did this happen to me? But I did realize that it needed to happen.
It took me out of the place where I was and kind of violently put me in the place where I was supposed to be. So, you know, you could have looked, like I probably did at different times, look at this thing as a awful thing to happen to me, but I now can look at it and see why. I can see why it happened. So having even a small awareness when you're going through a difficult thing that this May be something that has to happen, even though it's terrible, even that small awareness I believe can help you, can help you navigate it. And, you know, these, these like kind of rock, we'll say rock bottom like moments. What, where else can you go but look up? There's nowhere to go.
So they serve a purpose as awful as they are and how much, you know, we need to kind of be, kind of work through them and process them. They serve a purpose. We need to do that. And I find it's funny because like when I met you, which was like 12, 13-ish years ago, I knew you for about a year and a half before we became partners. But I remember, like I had multiple different awarenesses that I was having these breakdown breakthroughs, you know, and I had the first one in 2006 and it was funny when I met you. You also had one in 2006. So I thought that was really kind of funny because that's when I had this premonition of a past life, which, you know, it's another podcast, but you know, kind of connected us in the physical right now.
So, you know, all these things had happened to me earlier on, but what brought it on was that I've been an entrepreneur all my life, always worked for myself and I know there's a reason for that. I have to always be okay with how I do things in life because I really care about who I am. I care about the imprint I leave behind no matter if I'm doing painting, crack filling, gardening, it doesn't matter or the work I do. I really care. So, you know, the first one I had, the funny thing was what brought me there was working too hard, not paying attention to my body, you know? And back then, I was actually, I'd have to say I was probably very negative about my body back then, which is shocking to me today, but I was very negative and all of the things that had happened to me brought me to this place where I was really beating myself up.
But when it happened, it took me down and took me into this dark place that I'm not used to being, not myself because I always, you know, work so hard to love the life I'm living, you know? So anyway, we, you know, I have this breakdown and when I get through it and I get kind of just in the realization of, yes, this physical thing is my neck and pain, but the reason for it was because I was actually not as happy in my marriage as I thought I was. And that was like, that just knocked me right over because I had been telling myself a story for a long, long time, like we all do, right? It's literally earth shattering. It is. When you realize something, you've been working maybe so hard to keep together or so hard to keep that story together.
Because it is the story, like we're all trying to be these good people on so many different levels, but the nice thing is when you do evolve and go through different breakthroughs in your life, you really start to realize you go back to that situation and you say, like I've always said since, you know, I'll call it my last life, you know? I'm so grateful that I had the courage to do what I had to do to get out of it and look back at it in a way that I have no regrets because is it fair to be in a relationship that you can see that you don't make that person happy anymore either? So why stay in something that we're beating ourselves up or so. Aren't you holding back the other person from having the life that they want?
And that's exactly what I even said when I left, it was, you know, I hope you find this, this, and this is because that's what you need. Cause, you know, both of you and I would say we think they loved us and hated us at the same time, right? Lots of resentment. But I think the gift in becoming an awakened person and allowing yourself to go through these breakthroughs is if you have the courage and I'll say if you have the ability to get out of the breakdown, it becomes a breakthrough because then you have the awareness that you can choose you. But if you don't, I feel like that's why people say a breakdown. It's a breakdown initially. You have to break down to come to terms with what's happening in the moment.
What am I feeling? And sometimes when you really set in it, you get the real answer, not the superficial, oh my God, I'm worn out, tired from working because I could have stayed there, right? But that wasn't, why was I doing that? Yeah. You know? And what could I learn from taking the truth from where I was and moving forward in a way that was as healthy as I could? And that's it. The breakthrough breakdown rock bottom moment puts everything in perspective and puts you as a priority. Right. And if you have been a person that have been, you've been experiencing life as putting everything else as the priority in on yourself. That's the key. That's it. We talked about last week, we talked about imposter syndrome and burn out.
And you are on a path to burn out if you are putting everybody else before yourself. You just are. So this is your wake up call right now. Well, just even talking about this, I'm thinking about another podcast I want to talk about because it leads into this. But this is the gift when you can get just shifting your perspective, just shifting where you're standing, looking at the problem that you think you're in. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. So what's happening to you is bringing you back to, sort of bringing you back to your true nature and your roots, but it's that shifting consciousness. It's something, something occurs to you that you weren't aware of before. Right. Some kind of truth that comes forward and makes you question everything you used to think before.
So it will, it will push you back into those old belief patterns and go, wait a second. I don't like the way that feels. I don't think I agree with that anymore. And it makes you shift, you know, it makes you change. And there's some things that I've realized, just doing readings, like the realization that sometimes we might perceive somebody's behavior as being against us or being targeted at us. Whereas the person that is exhibiting the behavior is only within themselves. They're only thinking about themselves. So they're trying to protect themselves or they're trying to protect, maybe even they're trying to protect you. Maybe they had something happen to them that they're fearful about that May, they're fearful it's gonna happen to you. So they're trying to protect you, but it comes out as anger and control.
So there's so many big picture moments that you begin to have when you allow the spiritual awakening to happen. And they're all over the place. And also this spiritual awakenings can make you really emotional. Oh, no shit. I become somebody who hid my emotions and didn't like, you know, I gotta be strong, right? Yeah. Gotta fit the pirate, I'm six feet tall and I'm not little. So you gotta be big, strong girl, but oh my God, I cry and I love crying. It's like this thing. I'm like, oh my God, it's so weird, I love crying. Why could like be walking down the street and see a cute little dog who's watching a cute little bird in the tree and it will make me cry. I know I say I'm like unhappy idiot lately.
It's just like, oh, I don't even know. Yeah, it's expressions of love. It's expressions of like connection and curiosity that really get me. But it's funny because we are actually, like what we're actually doing is we're experiencing connection. And when you haven't experienced connection before, it can really throw you off because you could be in the middle of the conversation with somebody and talking to them about something very mundane. Like it could be like, oh, I went to the grocery store. And then the person says, oh, and I saw, I saw Fred there, you know, the man who waits outside the grocery store for change and, you know, he's homeless and then all of a sudden I'm bawling because I'm like, oh. And you wanna go take all your change? Fred, I'm gonna go visit Fred.
I'm gonna give him some money for a Friday to the night. You know, and it doesn't take very much, you know, but you're feeling that connection, that empathic connection is even stronger than it was before and you're feeling what the other person must feel. And it can throw you off and it can really throw off your day too. Like if you have plans and things you're supposed to do, sometimes even driving, the attention that driving takes is hard because you're feeling everything. Yes, connection is important and we need it, right? I'm just laughing because I'm thinking how much it does change us because you become a crazy idiot like me who's sitting outside, I feed the birds and I feed the birds all the time. And we, the neighbors say, do you guys have like a bird sanctuary over there?
Well, the neighbors are like, how do you get the birds to come to your yard? And I'm like, you pay attention to them. We feed them. You get them what they need, right? But, you know, we had some other critters show up and my wife was like, uh, yeah, I don't really love the mice. And I was like, yeah, but where do you, where do you stop? Where do you draw the line? Yeah, like you're trying to appreciate nature and feed the old little, you know, animals and that's what happens and I get it. Nature teaches us. We had a moment yesterday because we went for a walk yesterday and there was a dragonfly sitting on the road. Oh yeah. And we knew if we left it there, a car was going to run over it or something. So we picked it up and Kim raked it and held it and we walked with it for quite a while and it was kind of, it was still moving, but it wasn't really getting better.
And I said to Kim, I said, you know, sometimes we're there to help something live and sometimes we're there to help it die. And so Kim gave it rakey as long as she could and then we left it, we left it in a safe place on a rock and a safe place. But it's still, it's, that's the kind of connection that starts to happen. It started to. It happened to me a lot. You're connected to all life. All life. How many birds and dragonflies have I saved? We had a dragonfly that got stuck in our camping gear one year and we didn't know. So everything was all packed up and it was packed up for about, I don't know, three weeks and we were going camping again. So we got all the camping gear out to make sure everything's there and there's this dragonfly.
And we thought for sure it was going to die. Like we were like, how. Or that it was already because it didn't look. So Kim rakeyed it and it started to move and it started to come back to life. And after a while, like, I think you put on a rock in the yard or something. And the amazing thing about that one was that it actually had its wing all, like one wing, remember it was all crumpled. Oh, right. And I thought, oh boy, I don't know how this is going to go even if we do nurse it back to health. But it was like quite an amazing sight because it stayed with me for quite a while but then it flew and it landed and then it flew again and landed over in the, remember the patch of flowers over there? And it stayed there for quite a little time.
And then it did straighten out its wing. So I think its wing was all like kind of crunched up but it wasn't broken. But it was so cool to watch it like go from, it was kind of, it awakened and then it was kind of a little dizzy and then it kind of took some time to get its footing and then it flew. And isn't that an analogy for what a great, you know, this work we're doing in life? Hey, that's a spiritual awakening right there. Yeah, well, we often have had, because we live where there's lots of birds and things and we've had birds hit the window and usually they're okay, but there has been the odd occasion that they're not and Kim does the same thing every time. She'll go rakey the bird and usually like I said, they are okay, but sometimes we're here for different reasons but that's that connection.
How did like just with the dragonfly yesterday, how did I feel that dragonfly on the ground? Because I could have really just walked past it but I felt something, I looked down, it was literally right next to my foot. Like if I had have moved one inch over, I would have walked on it. Why didn't I walk on it? Why did I feel it? Why did I sense it? That's the connection. That's the increase in this heightened awareness you have with spiritual awakenings. So we've had so many now, like- That just happens all the time. I can feel- It just doesn't stop. I can feel when, because my kids are driving now, I can feel when they've driven like close to the driveway, like they're not in the driveway yet but I can feel them turning onto the street and I have this awareness like, oh, Val's coming home or like I can feel, I can always feel Kim anyway.
Like when she's coming home, I'm like, I have the awareness. I'm like, yep, she just pulled into the street and she should be here any second or if like one of us wants, you know, something, a coffee, a water, you know, a chocolate, something we seem to be able to read each other's mind even what we're making for supper sometimes. I'll think about what I really want and then she'll come home with the ingredients to make that. Yeah, it's kind of funny. So this is that, you do have this deep sense of connection but you also are viewing yourself differently which I think is important to note with a spiritual awakening because you start to look at yourself in a totally different way and see maybe you're seeing strengths that you didn't know you had or maybe you're letting go of insecurities.
Or you're seeing a softness that you didn't let yourself have. Well, yeah, because we've said about you many times like you're a very soft person, you know and somebody who just met you probably wouldn't get that. No, because my energy's big and I'm a big presence but I am very soft. And, you know, I think about things that it's just like my granddaughter. She looks at a cute little goat when we were away in PEI and she goes, oh and it's just the way she did it. I was like melted. I'm like, oh God, I'm so easy. That's a good point because I think kids are much more connected and open and you know, things happen and we change but we get to the like that mid 30s like late 40s American, you're prime for change.
That's when I think most people have, you know the big spiritual awakenings like, oh my God I'm not on the right path or I'm not in the right relationship or maybe it's the type of awakening that you go I could be moving forward so much more like in a deeper way or doing something. Maybe you're already doing it but maybe you need to be doing it in a more committed way. Well, and I think the other thing is for me I really realize how important it is to be in our grandchildren's lives and to share the qualities that I love about myself and instill them in them.
Yeah, we'll take the kids to the beach and the reasons why I love that is because it's grounding so not only does it feel good and you're right in the fresh air and you're just recharged. It's also very grounding and I find if they were distraught in any way before we got there or arguing with each other because there's four of them, you know they get to the beach, it takes maybe two minutes. Like seriously, you see it like it's drastic and they're shifting and they calm and they connect and then they're so happy. Doesn't it take an aware person though to realize that that is what people need? But that's what I mean. That's a part of awakening as a grandparent or as a mother or whoever. You just look at life and say this is too important not to do. This is too important not to follow through with, you know and there's lots of people in our kids' lives that think there's different ways of loving kids but for me it's loving them enough to tell them what they're doing isn't okay or to show them.
Or like seeing what they need, you know? And really you're like the queen of spiritual awakenings. So I- You're too sweet. I can't keep up with the spiritual. Like I think what happens is that we have the major ones, right? We have the ones that kind of wake us up put us on our path. But then I think it doesn't really stop. Like once you commit to that spiritual path it doesn't really end. It just enhances. It just grows and it just expands. So- And the gifts get deeper. Yeah. Like they get more meaningful. They're more expansive. It's like you just, you know I really did torture myself for a long time about leaving my province to come to Laura's.
You know, we're four and a half, five hours away from my kids. But now I'm like, I, you know she used to say, you know you're always gonna be the cool nanny though because your time with them is always gonna be so special. And when she said it in the beginning I was like, yeah, right. You know, but you know, you're just saying that because you know- Just trying to make me feel better. Yeah. But the truth is I do notice that it is and we always find really cool things that are different to do with them. And we go beach combing and like our granddaughters love tea parties. So I think the beauty about being awakened is it's like, like look at me. I started with growing herbs here and then we used them in our meals. And then I was like, oh my God, I'm just I love this. So then it's we expand to vegetables.
Well, I think I did garlic first and then vegetables and then flowers for the hummingbirds and the bees and all that. And then it's like, oh my gosh medicinal plants so that I can make my salves and make tinctures stuff. I've always wanted to do never had the time for and here's the beauty. The more awakened we allow ourselves to be the more full our life can be. Cause what do you really think you're gonna do all that stuff that you don't want to do? You're gonna be like, no. You know, when I tell my clients it's usually that first thought when somebody calls in and say, Hey, do you want to go do this with me? And in your head, you're going, hell no. But yes comes out of your mouth. And then you get resentful at yourself because you're doing what everybody else wants. You're being the good person but you're not doing the thing you really want.
You know? And I think when you learn to do what's best for you I just find in my own experience my energies more even. I'm happy. I wake up happy, but I stay happy. And I think that I just, you know, you learn it's simple things like cooking, good meals. They take way longer. You got to cut everything up. You got more prep. But it tastes so good, you know? And everything I do in life is a lot of work. But it has such a big benefit. And people say, do you ever sleep and all this stuff? And what I would say is I live a very beautiful very big full life. Yeah, that's vitality. And that's one of the things that comes from this is when you're being fed from not just surface like maybe people in your life or validation or you're being fed from the universe you're connected to your soul flow, your soul purpose.
When you're being fed in the right way you have all the energy you need to do everything you want. Or anything you need to do. And you heal because there's nothing, you know that's wrong with me. There's everything right with me. And it's just a matter of time before. When people say that though it's just because you living your best life is making them feel bad about not choosing to live theirs. Right. So it's really not a reflection on you or a reflection on us. We are doing the things that we are meant to do. Yeah. And if the only people that have a problem with us are the people that maybe feel like they're not. Right. And I just say, you know, it's like abundance. You know, gratitude, those things the more you concentrate on seeing them the more they show up because you identify it's like buying a white Toyota.
And now you see all white Toyota's. It is the law of attraction, you know. Your thoughts create your reality, whatever, you know you want to however you want to describe that. But for me, the thing I notice is I can do a lot in the run of a day. And I also can have a full day that, you know we do a couple of things and then the day falls apart. But really it was just us sitting, chatting, talking about something or sitting on the deck and time got away from us. And then we look at each other and go, oh, well we didn't get this, this and this done. But we both look at each other and go, well that's okay. Whereas before we would have beat ourselves up went, oh my God, blah, blah, blah. You know, but now I find there's, there's you're letting go of the reaction to things too.
And you're just, there's just more trust for the flow. Right. For the flow of life. I just wanted to mention just because we're talking about spiritual awakenings and we're talking about breakthroughs and how they can be so difficult. And one of the things that happens, what I've felt in my own life is how relationships shift. And I believe this happens because you're moving towards your greater good. But how the relationship shifts might not feel very good. Right. So I- And this is reality. This is reality. We both have had relationships and in kind of not very nice ways. And then you're left wondering like, well, why did that happen?
How did that happen? And sometimes I just think the spiritual awakening and the breakthrough kind of puts you in a different category of energy, a different vibration. And it just doesn't match up anymore with the people, some of the people that are in your life. And some relationships end dramatically but you just need to know that the universe always has your highest good in mind. And I can think of a few relationships that the way they ended was very kind of hurtful and dramatic, but I can now see that I couldn't, that person could not stay in my life because I couldn't grow with them in my life. I couldn't go in the direction I need to go. So I think that's something to remember that- That is the big thing right there though. We can add up all the things that happen when you go through a breakthrough.
We can add them all up and say, oh, that sounds terrible. But what you need to know is it's a breakthrough, meaning you're breaking through all the old stuff, all the old patterns that you don't need anymore. You're moving to a better place. And I think the really cool thing that happens with this, which I love, is your meter for bullshit gets really good. Oh, boy. Really, really good. And so think of how this can help you. You need to buy a new car. It can be a little bit hard in the beginning though. Boy, oh boy. Oh, I know, but just think how much shit you could cut through. You can cut through so much crap because maybe you, like I said, you want to go buy a new car and you can tell. Oh, you can read people. You can read people. You can tell the salesman's putting you on.
You're full of poop. He's telling you all this stuff that doesn't matter or it's not important or it's not even true. So it can really help you a lot. We had an issue with the dishwasher repair person and I gotta say, my wife was so good because I mean, honestly, I'm like appliances, like whatever, repair, I don't get it. But we moved into this house and there was a dishwasher here and it was brand new, never used. But because it had sat there for four years, not used, there was like something leaking. So we got the dishwasher all hooked up and then we were so sad because it started leaking everywhere. And it's gorgeous. Well, it's brand new. So we hired a repair guy and he came and he told us the saddest, worst story I think he could think of.
And he just said, this is garbage and this whole unit needs to be replaced and it's $800 to replace it. You might as well just buy a new dishwasher and like it's gonna cost you this much for the dishwasher and then this much for me to install it and then we were like, well, what do we do with this dishwasher? Because it's only got this one broken part on it. He goes, oh, I'll take it for you. Yeah, of course, right? So he gave us his quote and Kim very intelligently just said, thank you for the quote and we'll think about it. When he left, she looked right at me and she said, that's BS. She knew, she was like, that's total BS. So we did our own research. We found the part that we talked to your dad. Yeah, well, my dad does fix like he can fix small, like appliances and things and he's a car mechanic, but he knows how to do other things.
So we did our research. We found the part. My dad helped us find out what part it was. The part was $40. Yep. And your dad put it in in 10 minutes. And dad put it in. So, it's great. It's great when you have a good bullshit meter. It's wonderful. And it helps if you have a little bit of courage because I also, we went on his website and realized that he was a bit of a shyster and I got my money back for what we paid. Yeah. Oh, that's right too. Yes. I forgot about that part. We found out that he was paying for Google reviews and when we found real reviews, they were terrible and Kim called them and all she did was talk to him and he refunded all her money. Yeah.
I just said I didn't like how he did it and that I could have threw that away and then where would I have been and that's not really right because you can do a Google search on the part and find it. And he said that you had to buy the whole unit and it was clear that you could buy it. We just literally left the house after we found it, went and got it, you know, it took half an hour to get there. So, you know. So benefit of spiritual awakening is being able to be in control and have authority over your own path. And that includes your intuition being heightened and being able to read people around you. So, and read situations too and even books. Oh my God, I remember after my first like big spiritual awakening trying to read different people's ideas about things and I could feel truth in some things and not in others.
And so I'd read something and I go, that doesn't seem right to me. That doesn't seem right. And then I'd read something else that kind of aligned with what I was doing and I go, okay, that's okay. But it didn't, it kind of worked against me in university because the stuff that I didn't believe in, I didn't absorb. But I had to absorb stuff I didn't believe in to pass my courses. So I didn't always work on my benefit. But yeah, there's, I actually kind of, but now mind you, I studied nutrition 20 years ago. But I remember being in the degree and studying and I finished, I applied for my masters and I get in the master's degree and all of a sudden I didn't agree with what they were teaching.
And it was really hard for me. And there were so many things that didn't align with my new self and my new truth. I didn't finish it. Well, it's funny as we're talking, I was thinking about, you know, one of the biggest benefits from, you know, awakening and trusting these breakthroughs is that because of what they are and what it's entitled, it's like you learn how to deal with insecurities in a way that is profound. So because you don't have all those, you know, insecurities because you had to work through them to go through these breakthroughs. Cause when a breakthrough first hits you, sometimes it'll take you right off your feet. Oh yes. And they do get easier, but sometimes they come quicker and faster because that's what's happened to me this year. They're just like repeatedly coming, coming, coming.
But I think that one of the other things I love is that you don't get, you don't get pulled down the rabbit hole. Like you go, okay, you can be off for a moment or two, but I find now I'm so settled in myself and my own truths and what's right for me that, and I've learned how to set boundaries that you just don't have the, like it used to take me longer to get through things now. It's just like, oh yeah, that happened. That's what that means. Oh, there's the way to correct it. And it's just, it's just, you're just moving through it. You're just doing it. You're just being. Yeah, but your emotions are more in balance because you've allowed yourself to grow. So you're not wasting that energy and you have that much more energy for other things. Oh, and so this would explain your connection with nature.
Yes. Because as you have a spiritual awakening, you do have a higher sense, like of a connection with nature. And man, the synchronicities that show up once you have spiritual awakenings is so cool. You're looking for a feather and there's a feather. It's like, you can't make this shit up, right? That's right, or another feather, or another feather. And deja vu, like, because we had, we had friends over Saturday night and I heard more than once them commenting that they were having deja vu. So that synchronic moment of us all being together, that was all meant to be. And we just asked people at the last minute and they all said yes. And we were like, okay, cool. This is meant to happen, right? Within a couple of days, yeah. So that's the thing I think we gotta think about, there's cool stuff that happens with this too, your dreams are heightened, you could have more kind of supernatural experiences.
You could have a meeting with your guides. You could have a meeting with a past loved one. You could have, even just, like you were talking about how you asked for healing last night and you ended up in multiple different healing rooms with different healing beings. Like, amazing, miraculous things can happen. If you can see what you're going through as a breakthrough to your spiritual awareness, as long as that's what you want. Some people don't, some people are uncomfortable with growth and things and I understand that. But if you can see it that way, you are gonna move through this so much better and have more knowledge and learning from it.
And then the next time it happens, you're gonna be a pro. Yeah, it really is. And it's almost like second nature. So it doesn't, that's the thing I love the most is that so many things that used to take energy from me are, you know, I'm recouping all that energy all the time. So think of a body that's recouping and not leaking. Yeah. You know, you're more positive. You have more centered energy. You're more grounded. So things come easier for you. You also don't, you think better. You also don't need to be around people all the time. Right. And that's, that was the weirdest thing. I think I was a very, very extroverted person. But through all my healing, I've realized that I was actually a very curious but nervous person. So when I was in big crowds, I would kind of hyper talk to like a nervousness that, oh, somebody has to fill in the space because it's awkward and other people don't know how to do it.
So I would just do it. And like Saturday night, it started like that because everybody was so excited to see each other and hadn't seen each other for years that, you know, it started that way. But then it was almost like I was sitting back observing everyone and observing, you know, one of the things that hit me really hard was I was thinking, isn't it beautiful to be around like-minded people that are all talking about how they feel and what they think and their opinion. And nobody was like shooting them down and getting mad and like what, you know, or being defensive or insecure. It was just a whole bunch of fun. And I remember one lady, she had me dying. I was laughing so hard. But she was just being her true self and she was so funny and all of us were just lit up like Christmas trees.
So, you know, and you wake up and you feel like you have more solid energy. So you feel like you can handle more, do more. And when things happen that used to kind of make you feel bad or throw you off a little bit, it doesn't even do that anymore, you know? And then you realize, holy shit, it's been a long time since I had to take an Advil or a Tylenol for my back killing me or whatever. And the other thing too that I noticed is that things that don't vibrate for you in your best, in your highest good, you are not able to do them anymore. So like I used to go, when I was younger, I used to enjoy concerts. I liked it. I cannot go to a concert now. I can't handle the lights, the noise, the people, the loudness.
So we do, you May experience some sensory issues with this kind of spiritual awakening. You might feel like just different. Like you might feel like you don't, maybe you need more sleep. Maybe you don't need as much, you know? Maybe your eating patterns are changing. Maybe you're eating healthier and you're not even trying. Oh my gosh, sometimes we go through points where we need to eat a lot, but healthy, but a lot. I know sometimes you and I go through these big shifts and then it's like you're hungry and it's gotta be like berries and salads and good. Or you're craving like physical activity. Yes. You're craving to go out and move and do things. And I do wanna say that sometimes these spiritual awakenings open you up to feeling kind of lost, but.
That's very normal. It's normal and I wanted to mention it today because it is part of it. But I also need to say that feeling lost is very important as a spiritual being. Well, you have to find yourself. Right. So, you know, that's the thing. It's like this beautiful, I think perspective is such a big thing. You know, we have this perspective and you know, so many things that I thought were a certain way or even ways that, you know, I judge somebody for their behavior because it was toxic. I now look at them and I'm not angry anymore. I feel sorry for them. That doesn't mean I wanna be around them because they're not, they don't believe the way I do. They don't like the things I like. You know, so we just don't have the same pattern of, you know, we don't like the same things.
Yeah. Period. And that's okay. That's another thing about, you know, being kind of more present as a spiritual being, you're okay with everybody else, but you get to choose. You don't have to be in people's energy if you don't want to. And you know, what's funny because we could say like, I do a lot of things to be well, you know, I eat well, I think positive, I do positive things, but I also, you know, I'm a reflexologist and a Reiki master. So I Reiki myself every morning. I Reiki myself every night. I do reflexology to my hands and feet whenever I need to. I know how to manipulate my neck and lower back to, to pop it. You know, I, I get on a needle bed every night. I meditate, you know, I, we take supplements and I think you can complain about being older or you can say that, you know, you've gotten to this place in life where you're good and it isn't it important to just keep yourself as good as you can, you know, so that you can live as big as you want.
And that's, that's my thing. Having your energy in the right place is key to that. And that's why having a breakthrough might really feel heavy and hard in the beginning. But just remember, you're shedding, letting go of the things that no longer serve you. You're moving towards a better path for yourself. And there are so many benefits to allowing yourself to awaken as a spiritual being that you came here to be. Right. And thinking about what you just said, you're shedding. So you're creating more space for the light to fill you. Right. Beautiful. Boom. Talk to you next week.
