Hello, I'm Kimberly. And I'm Laura. Today we're talking about is the world really falling apart? Is it really falling apart? Is it an illusion? Or are we falling back together? We have some matrix conversation right now. And my son saw the movie Backrooms, and so we had a great conversation about reality and what is reality and different dimensional realities. And so, yeah, which one are we in? Or how many are going on at the same time? Yeah, it's so funny because there are some people that they've presented evidence that after 2012, there really is no real life. Like when the Mayan calendar ended, apparently we just went into this alternate reality, this holographic reality that nothing's real anymore, which I don't know.
Things do feel a little weird lately, so maybe there's an argument for that. Oh, man, yeah. I think the thing with me is that we look at all the negativity and it's, you know, you have to think there's so many sensitive souls coming down. And, you know, like the spectrum is so large now, so widespread. And, you know, I have four grandchildren and I look at them and see that their, you know, their kids are as close to heaven as you can get. And they're just so pure and real and honest in every moment. And I love seeing that naturally unfold. However, I also see, you know, and I'm somebody who I watch people, I'm a people watcher, I like watching people of all different, I'll say make some models.
And it's intriguing to me and to watch how people interact and all that. But the thing that I have to say that it's concerning to me is here the world is, the universe is sending all these beautifully high connected souls down. And I believe that they're trying to shake us up. They're trying to help us evolve and change. But we're not paying attention enough to be able to be better supporters of these poor sensitive souls. And I'm one of them. I'm, you know, I'm a woman, I'm six feet tall. I'm a very big stature woman, but I'm a very sensitive soul. I can't, you know, I can't use hair sprays or chemicals or anything. And you know, people would like to say over my lifetime, people have made fun of me.
You know, they've said, oh, you should live in a bubble. And it's, you know, when I was younger, it was a little bit abrasive to my energy because I always felt so good about who I was and how I lived and how I thought. And to the point where I fought to keep that part of myself always, even at the age of 58, where I am right now, we all have struggles and things. But I see this pandemic of people on their phones and avoidance, like they're searching, you know, they're searching for something to just, to me it looks like they're zoning out. Well, and that's why we have to really ask like, why? Why is this happening?
And to remind ourselves that we have such a short memory. Like a lot of people, I mean, history is not everybody's thing. You know, and honestly, it was never my thing. I always used to think, why? Why are we going back to read about things from the past when we want an innovation and we want invention and we want to move forward? And something kind of clicked with me a few years ago, you know, and channeling actually has really helped me channeling that universal wisdom. And I literally would just went through meditation, I would just ask, you know, can I channel that the wisdom of the universe? Can I just ask questions?
And I would ask all these questions and some of the answers that came through really changed me and changed the way I looked at things. And one of the things that came through was that we only have record and memory of the things that we've actually sort of been allowed to have in a sense. So we only have record and memory of this cycle of life on earth, but there's been other cycles and other intelligent beings on earth. And so when I was talking to my guides, I got the information that this is the sixth cycle, but there might be more. I mean, that's just what they were telling me at the time. So we've already had extinction on some level, like intelligent beings like that we could have inhabited. It doesn't mean they're exactly human.
They could have been other types of beings or whatever. But this has already happened a bunch of times where if we want to say humans get to the place where they basically just blow everything up, you know, like it just, there's an extinction cycle. And that might seem a little scary to people, but we are actually kind of afraid, I think, and fearful of all the wrong things. I agree. And I was, we were talking about this and saying, you know, like this is something that you hear from so many people. And I remember when I was young and an older person would say to me, ah, the world's going to crap, you know? And this is, everything's terrible, you know? And then what happens? Like you get older and you start to notice things and you start to like kind of see where they were coming from, you know?
Cause you're like, maybe the world is going to crap, but is the world always going to crap? Like is that our complete awareness all the time that everything is just terrible? Like that's, cause if you go back and you find, like say you find some, you know, explorer's journal from when they came to the Americas, right? And there's all these like people that came here like Champlain and all these people that came and they wrote all these journals about their struggles and how the new, the Americas, the new world was really difficult, right? Even more difficult than what they were used to. And they're writing things about how, like the state of the world and how terrible it was. So if this is our mentality that everything's always terrible and we look at it from our spiritual point of view, then doesn't it seem like everything's just always terrible?
Mm-hmm. Which is, which for somebody like, I'll say for us, and especially like I can speak for myself to say that even when I was a young child, I have memory of feeling what, like what's wrong with everybody. Why does everybody, you know, number one, you're watching people hurt each other. You're watching people like really, to me it felt like struggle so much with what really felt to me like was so simple. Like life, life can be so simple. And you know, it was just last week I was outside working in the garden and I thought, wow, it's so cool that I get to play in the dirt, right? Cause I feel like a little kid and not everything in my life is easy, of course. But I just had this new awareness that, I'll say in my old life, you know, I worked 40 to 60 hours a week.
Now I work 40 hours a month. And the funny thing is, I make more money than I ever did before. And I have more freedom. So how, how does that happen? If you're not in a place of awareness where you just get to the place where you say, you know what, this is my life. And every day I get to choose how I want that life to be. And as a spiritual being, I built a very good relationship with my guides in the way that it just always trusted spirit. And if I'm being honest, I can do a little quick stat here, but in 2006, I had a massive spiritual awakening. And the physical was a health crisis because I found out about my neck and back, you know, seven herniated discs and my life had to change at that point.
Then in 2016, I had a terrible car accident which really changed my life in multiple ways, physically, financially, just even you and I getting back and forth to each other. And now it's 2026 and I'm back in another health crisis with something going on with my heart, you know, I had AFib last month for four hours. So in a normal human being, I'll say it cause I don't feel like I'm normal. I don't think my wife would say I'm normal, but you could look at those things and say, wow, that's a lot of, you know, that's a lot of like hard stuff. However, in my mind, I look at that as these are spiritual awakenings. They're up leveling. It's like you get to this place in life where life just becomes more and more precious and more important to you so that you look at the things that are good and you want to keep building on them.
So it doesn't have to be negative. And that's the thing about the world that really hurts my heart is that there's so much good. And everything is about your perspective. Like I just said about my quick little snapshot. Every, you know, and I know I'm in a nine year cycle. So sometimes I go, okay, great. This is what's happening. So I have to like think a little bit more about some of these things, but it doesn't mean that the diagnosis has to be negative. Well, yeah. And that's the thing we all have. We all have these things happening to us. And I think the key is because we're human and because our brain likes to carry us away and think about a lot of different things.
And what I hear you saying is that these things happening to you, somebody could take those and let it take them into a thought pattern that isn't healthy. Like make you feel like, oh my God, there's always something wrong with me. And I, you know, but we're in a human body, right? So, but you, but you are like what you're pointing out is you're saying like these things have become learning moments. They've become points in your life where you changed, you transformed, you took a new path, you tried something different. And you thought positively through those things. And I think that's kind of what we're missing right now is that we have so much information. We have so much information, so much media. And this is so quick.
And it's so quick. This is a time like where we're so connected, but we're so disconnected, you know, it's just a really weird time, but it's still really good. Right. And it's funny because I was talking at the beginning about how short our memories are and we don't really look into history. And I kind of had this urge like during my spiritual awakening in the very beginning had this urge to go back and read about different things that I had. I just avoided history in school. I just didn't, you know, it wasn't my thing. But then I got all this interest, you know, about how do I conceptualize my life? Like how do I look at my life with a perspective that makes more sense to me is more balanced and healthy?
And one of the roads that I went down was reading about kind of life in different times. And so just for today, I kind of pulled out some information so we could talk about it and just quickly, like said, what was life like in 1600s? And the 1600s, I mean, that's going way back, but most people were farmers. There was very little, you know, there was some elite like landowners, but most people were like tenant farmers. They didn't even own their land and they were just working to survive. You gotta think no electricity, no indoor plumbing, no machines to run on your farm. It's all manual labor and animal labor. And people were just struggling to get by.
There's no medical information out there. In fact, people didn't even believe that hot baths were healthy. They thought that hot baths, they thought that they took energy from you, that they made you weak. So people aren't bathing. There's no education for kids. You know, mortality is very high, life expectancy is very low. And there's things like the bubonic plague. I don't even know what that is exactly, but it sounds really bad. Right? So, oh my God, right? And you think about that's what life was like. And then we move forward a bit into the early 1900s. You know, electricity is available, but only to elite, only to like people as a luxury.
Indoor plumbing's available, but same thing, right? It's luxury. And most people had a well that had to carry water into the house. They had to, they heat the homes with wood. They cook with a wood-fired stove. You know, it's labor, labor, labor. Boil your laundry, scrub your laundry by hand. Hang it by hand. You know, and even the telephone, we were laughing with the information about the telephone how if you called somebody, you're on kind of like a party line because there's tons of people on there. So no private conversations. No privacy. I actually remember that. Like I remember hearing. Yeah, pick up the phone and there's a bunch of people on the line and you're like, hello. All the gossip bags were like, oh, it should be quiet. Yeah, just comedy out here. Listen, listen to the community gossip.
So people wrote letters, you know, because that's how you talk to people. You wrote letters if you wanted to be private, I guess. And today, look at us. We've gotten so, this is where we're detached. We were talking about all this stuff before the podcast and I love this podcast today because it's so important, but it's like, what do you do now? You text somebody. And I just said to my wife last week, I said, you know, I want to get everybody's address because I want to go back to sending a birthday card or a Christmas card because I feel like we're losing such a big part of ourselves. Well, there is a detachment because you just pick up your phone and you just type in happy birthday. And we don't even call each other anymore. We don't talk to each other. There's no social interaction. We're wondering why kids are so socially inept and they can't talk to each other face to face.
Like this is kind of, it kind of freaks me out a bit as a parent because, and you as a grandparent because I'm watching my kids in their adolescent years. They don't necessarily want to talk face to face with their friends. They'll text them. They don't even want to call them. They don't even want their voices on the line. I've even seen kids in the car texting each other and they're sitting right beside each other. Right, so there is like a detachment but I'm kind of crushing this argument about how, oh, we're in this terrible time because in every time you can find people that say this is the worst time on the face of the planet, this is the worst time ever. I'm never coming back here. I think that's a riot when people say that because I go, you really think you have a choice?
Oh my God. And I think I did mention this in a previous podcast but that is a pet peeve of mine because if you are adamant you're never coming back here guess what, you're coming back here. Yeah. Because you haven't learned your lesson yet. You know, you haven't gotten it. And to me, here's the difference. On some level, I would say that I knew I didn't have to come back here but I would come back here every time just to have the experience of living in this big old, beautiful earth because I love it. That's the lesson. So I feel like when you feel like you love this life that you love this earth that you can appreciate all the gifts and all the magic that it presents you that's when you have the choice to come or not come. But the other side of it is if you think life's gonna be easy and that's why I share my vulnerability about my own health crisis and stuff is that Laura and I have been in this work full time for 20 years.
I've been making a full time living doing this work. I love spirituality. I love love. I love the universe. So for me, this is like, I feel like a five year old in a candy store, you know? Like I'm living the way I wanna live. And the statistics that you've just given us about the 1900s and stuff. And then we look at today. The thing people don't see and I've recently picked up the book with Gabor Meite about the myth of normal. And I'm new into it but I love what he's saying because he says we're in a time of doom and gloom. So kids are on their computer and I'm not giving an excuse cause I can't stand it. I'm the type of person that I wanna get them outside when my grandkids come, there is no devices.
We might watch a movie together but we really, we enforce the no devices because we tell them we're building memories. We're having adventure with them. We're opening their little minds up to think about, you know, my grandson, I swear to God, he just anything that has to do with treasures he wants in on, right? So, you know, we're doing all these things but the doom and gloom is as adults. It's what we talk about. It's our existence every day. Oh my God, but we're so disconnected even from our bodies. But that's what I'm saying. So here these poor kids are. And again, this isn't about putting blame on people. This is about us saying, hey, we need to wake up because I watch people on their phones too and some people are scrolling to keep trying to keep their kids okay and make sure they have all the clothes they need and the things they need and what's good and what's not good and they're driving each other crazy.
You can easily drive yourself crazy like it's like, so my background is nutrition and I did all that studying and you know, have my degree, all that. But there is so much back and forth about healthy eating. If you are a person that's trying to pay attention to what's healthy and not, like it blows my mind how much as humans we are manufacturing and producing for people to buy and consume that is actually toxic or bad for them. Oh yeah. Like what really are we doing? Why is this, is our population gotten to the point where we have to mass produce food and that we're just trying to keep people live in the moment or like what's happening?
And it's, and here's the funny thing is when you really look at all this information we have, people have become much more conscious. They are paying attention. People are saying things to me like, well this is something that I kind of came across myself but I didn't know, like I love tea. I had to drink tea every day. Herbal teas, yeah. Yeah, herbal teas. And I didn't know that tea bags are made out of plastic and then you pour boiling water on them and it releases micro plastics into your tea. So then I'm on this quest to find organic tea that uses organic bags and it's not as easy as you think because they hide all the information from you. So you can't just go to the company website. You'd probably have to call them and kind of grill them a bit because there's nothing anywhere on the packaging that tells you that it's like a cotton string with like a gauze organic bag.
And so we're making everything out of plastic. So what's happening? Our bodies are becoming plastic, right? So blocked up, clogged up. So today we're trying to talk to you like kind of get you in the place of balance. So I'm not going to go too crazy down the rabbit hole but we know how this works. The pendulum swings wide one way and wide the other. So if we've come from a place where, oh my gosh, I was like, we were just looking up little things like life expectancy and stuff. Life expectancy in 1900 was 48 years. Now it's 83. Right. And look at the children. Yeah. The statistics on children. So in the early 1900s, child infant mortality, so babies under a year, one in five babies died.
Now five in 1000. Right. So we have made extreme advances and now we're coming into this more conscious space where I believe what's happening on the spiritual levels we're being faced with all of this information and challenges because we are meant to go inward. Right. We're meant to go into our own knowing, our own intuition and ask our body like, what do you like? What do you want? And trust it. Trust it. Because this isn't about what some health expert said you should do. We're in a place now where there's so much information. Almost too much. Too much.
And it's like rate and people want an answer right now, right now, right now. And it's like sometimes things take the time they do because you need the time to process something. Now, like we, and yes, and we want to live well. Like we don't want to live, you know, sickly to 83 years. You want to live well. So this is the goal, but people have become so much more conscious. But I think we're being overwhelmed with information because we're being forced back inward. We're being forced back into self to actually find out what's right for you. What balances you? What makes you feel good? Trust what your body's asking you to do. And we have to stop supporting companies that are creating products that are toxic, you know? Because we're, and again, like you, I don't want to go down the rabbit hole, but one of the reasons why I started gardening was really because I liked playing in the dirt.
But then I really fell in love with it because when myself or my beautiful wife would be outside and grabbing a couple of zucchinis or, you know, filling a bowl of tomatoes or cucumber, whatever, it just made me feel so good. I felt like, wow, and then you're eating it going, you know, this is so great. Now it's a ton of money to garden and it is a ton of work. But the pride that I get from doing it and now I'm growing mushrooms and I don't have it mastered yet, but I'll get there. And we wanted to learn how to make sourdough bread. So we went and we did a course and we loved it. And at first I'd have to say that it felt like, oh my gosh, this is a lot of work for one loaf of bread. So what did we do? Me being my crazy self, I said, well, I'll make four to six loaves all at the same time.
Like, you know, I kind of do three and three one day and the next, but it's a weekend that we're gonna be around the house. And I would say that you whipped three loaves together the other day and we looked at each other and said it is a lot of work, but once you figured out, it's like everything else. You just work it into your day, set timers and away you go. And look what, you know, before we had grocery stores and before we could buy all our groceries easily and there was so much convenience. People making bread at home, they made bread out of necessity. They had to. Just like you have to bring in the wood or your house will be cold. You know, you have to. And we do that too because we love the heat of the wood. All right, you have to go to the well and bring in your water or you won't have water.
So it's like now we have so many conveniences that we're now turning our focus back to our conscious self. So this is actually elevation. This is like bringing up consciousness, but we have to be careful because right now there's an information war. There's not a war like we had World War I, World War II, Pearl Harbor. We had all the Vietnam War. We had physical wars. Now we have the war between self, like between our own beliefs and who we actually are and how we carry our power. And we have to be very careful because we're not educated on how to deal with an information war. So I don't know about you, but when I was in school, we learned about critical thinking.
And a lot of, especially in university, a lot of my instructors and professors, they taught us about critical thinking. I don't even know if that's a thing anymore. Do people look for sources? Do they make sure that the information they're reading is correct? There's so much information online. Is it even true? Even sometimes the AI component on Google or whatever will give you an answer, but it's just gathering all the information from the internet. Is that even true? Right, but you really, I think the thing that I see is that people are so detached from their self. And it's as simple as, I remember when I was in my other life, I'll say with my ex, he was unbelievable about where we were. Like what's the word I'm looking for here?
You're really good at it too. What do you mean? Ah! I'm having a brain fart here. You're really good geographically and knowing where you're going, direction and stuff like that. Well, he was amazing at that. Just absolutely incredible. Always knew where to go, hardly ever had to take out a map. He was listening to his intuition. Had a literal internal compass. But he didn't know he was. Right? So then the GPS's all come out and everybody wanted one. And we had kids in hockey, so we were traveling all the time. After we got that stupid GPS, it would take us down the wrong road, take us down the wrong road. He gets so frustrated. And I looked at him one day and I said, but wait a minute. You're not listening to yourself anymore. You're not paying attention anymore.
You're putting all your faith in that machine, but you know better than that. So, and this is just amplified on a massive scale now. We are not listening to our own intuition. And I think that's why we're in such, you know, there are all these negative stories. Laura and I said, we want to do a podcast where we just find all these positive stories just to be able to show people that there's so many out there. But, you know, one thing that we can say is that more people are gardening than ever before. There's more mushroom growing and log growing mushrooms and bucket growing, you know. There's like hobby farms like ever before. There's like the sourdough, you know, and fermenting foods. Oh my God, so many people are like really taking on their own authority, like their own agency.
Oh my gosh. So that's where I see consciousness elevating. I see us moving past, like whatever we're dealing with with the fear culture. Cause most of the time, I don't know about you, but most people that come to see me have already decided they are not watching the news. They don't watch, you know, aggravating television or things that upset them. They are not looking at their phone. They're not looking at the headlines. Those are the people that are kind of finding their way to me and I'm feeling like this is more of a trend that people are turning, they're turning away from things that dysregulate their nervous system, that make them feel off or upset or stressed and more and more that's happening.
But what I've noticed, like talking to my kids is I hear them, they have a very negative attitude towards the future. Like there's, and there's innovation all the time. There's innovation everywhere. There's things that are happening all over the place. Look at the lady that you bought plants from and she raises all these plants. She sells them all and takes all the money and puts it into a scholarship. Which I just love. I love love. And I got two plants from her that I never had before. And to me, adding to my medicinal plants and plants that like come up every year on their own, like that's such a gift to me. And it makes me happy in a way I don't even know how to explain, but it was so cute to go see her and I was buying ground cherries from her and they'll receive themself and they're so good.
But that's the thing, when we actually pay attention, there are more people doing good in the world than not. And it's like our community, we have a giveaway page. Like we have a page on Facebook in our community, which is all across Canada now. Buy Nothing Canada. And it's turned into like sort of a movement. And when you go on there, you see all kinds of things and people going out of their way to give something to somebody else. Because we know how good it makes us feel to give, but we also know how amazing it is to help out your neighbor. And that's what this, that whole program, there's- And to not pollute the earth. Yeah. And not throw things in the garbage. And we have, we could go on all day about all the good things that are happening.
But we often, all we get is what's, you know, what's negative out there from media. Media is built because our brains actually latch on to negative information before it does positive. So they want viewers. They want to, they want more eyes on their advertisements. The advertisers pay them. There's a whole cycle. So here's the thing. If you're looking at, if you're looking at this whole system, then you understand it's not built to empower you. It's not built to even educate you. Like it's only built to create the fear machine, to feed the fear, feed the machine. That's all. And so the challenge sometimes, and Kim and I have done this over the years where we've just stopped, you know, watching TV or using media or anything for a few weeks.
Man, you feel like a different person. You feel like a completely different person when you do it. And I think the thing with you and I is we really do live what we preach. And we're human. We fall into little holes and we, you know, we're off, off base sometimes, you know, sometimes we have a little fear creep in, but you know, for me, there's only fear of love. It's like you're either in fear or you're in love. And I like to try to stay in love because I'm not, I don't do well with fear anyway, because I find it, it's agitating to me that people would think in a fearful way first when we have so many beautiful things at our disposal. And, you know, we have a beautiful world full of beautiful trees and flowers and plants.
And like, I just, and you know, I love living in Nova Scotia where there's beach after beach after beach. And it's probably my favorite thing to do is to go, you know, beachcombing and look for, well, I just love watching you get sea glass and stuff. But I just love the sound of the waves and the feel of the air next to the water. I just am mesmerized by it, but I'm also somebody that can sit out in hammock and look at the sky and just be creative about it and fall in love with it. Yeah, so that's just the thing. Like, you know, Kim, you are all about connection. Like that is, you know, a very important thing to you. And I think there's a whole bunch of things that are happening right now that we are going through a hard time in consciousness, like in our mental state and in our spiritual connection.
Like, I feel like people are questioning a lot of things, but at the same time, we have this great evolution that's happening, this like transmutation. We're going from the workers, the worker bees, you know, the people that we had to, you know, work our guts out just to survive. And we're going into a time where we can actually think. Right. We can actually like hypothesize. We can plan. We can be theoretical. We can be philosophical. You can't do those things when you're in survival mode. No. It's very difficult. Can you imagine working 60 hours a week and coming home at night and then reading a book and being philosophical about the nature of the universe?
Like, nobody's going to do that because they're tired. Right. They're going to go to bed. You know, they're going to eat their supper and they're going to go to bed. So we're in this place now where we have the space. We have the space to do it. We can put the dishes in the dishwasher. We can put the clothes in the washing machine. We can, you know, walk away and go do other things. Oh my God, there's robot lawnmowers. I'm like, what the heck? It's such a cool time. And then thinking like about, like as my, my grandmothers were born at the end of the depression, like kind of at the end of that Europe. And so when I talked to them about life. And they're both 94. Sorry I had to say that. They're both 94. Like wow. I know, right? So they're both born in like around 1930.
And they, when you talk to them about how life was completely different, just completely different. And I don't know about you, but I'm really glad we don't have to deal with things like tuberculosis anymore. Or like Spanish flu, you know? Like when you go to a really old cemetery and you look around at all the headstones, there's a ton of children, a ton. And it's all like smallpox and things like that. Like it's, we just live in such a privilege time in such a time where we do have time to think. We do have time to contemplate. If we want to create art, we can do it. You know, we live in such a beautiful time. Well, look at how many people are inventors of things today.
Like it's just massive, small businesses. There's massive amounts of small businesses and people creating their own work. You know, I myself think that's absolutely beautiful. You know, there's people building live edge tables and putting epoxy in the middle and they look like something out of a fairy tale to me. I go, wow, it's so, I have such a love for that because when you take something and you create it and you manifest it into being, like that is like, that's the, sorry, that's the shit. That's the shit right there. It's like, wow. Well, I know that looking at, kind of looking at all this and talking about it, you see people now figuring things out, like going back to a simpler time.
Like off-grid living or like homesteading and they really crave that. They really crave that because people are craving that connection, connection with even the earth, connection with their food. You know, there's so much convenience. It's kind of, we've kind of gone a little bit too far. You know, like there's so much beauty and there's so much like kind of life in just cooking your own food. Like kind of, you know, picking out the vegetables, chopping them, you know, cooking them. I know it sounds weird, but- I love cooking with you. But if you just buy everything, like when I was younger, like baby carrots and they're still a thing, but baby carrots were a big thing and everybody was buying the little bags of carrots all caught up and then giving them to their kids and until we found out that they were soaking them in like, in preservatives to keep them good and they were taking full-sized carrots and making them look like baby carrots and just shaving them down and then everybody was like, oh no, they're bad, you know?
So like- And I can taste it. That's how like in tune I am. I can taste, I can taste water with chlorine. I can taste these carrots. Like I won't eat them because I have this body that rejects things that aren't good for me and I'm so grateful for that now. I used to- Yeah, like just what's wrong with getting a carrot and peeling it and cutting it up. I don't understand. It's just like my kids and apple slices. Like when we used to go to McDonald's and they'd say, oh, do you want the apple slices? And my kids were always like, ah, like they're mushy. No, like, because they're in a package and they're, get all the stuff on them. Yeah. And we could just come home and I had like the, you know, the simple little apple slicer that you just pushed down through the apple and they were like happy, happy. Like woohoo.
But when you buy things that are so pre-processed, right? Like you're losing that connection. You're losing the connection with the food. You're losing the connection with what it takes to prepare it. And when you, when you grow food, then you're like, you realize how hard it is to grow food when you try. Because it is not easy. And the amount of money I've spent in raised beds and good composted soil and fertilizers and watering and hoses and, you know, and I'm gonna constantly keep building it because it is one of those things that the more, the more prepared you are, the better you'll do. And it's a learning curve. It is. Absolutely. You learn stuff about like the climate where you're growing and on the soil and all that stuff.
But the connections. Sorry. And one of the things you just started to say connection is the other side of this for me is I have these four little grandchildren. And when they come and they see, well, I mean, I have them all like grabbing the plant lightly to smell like the rosemary and the lavender and all these things. But I have something in me that I want to pass this down to the next generation. And I want them to see how it makes you feel when you grow stuff on your own, you know? And, and then like, you know, a friend last, when we were in New Brunswick last, a friend of ours, you know, shout out, and thank you Travis. But, you know, they dropped me off five bags of like manure, old age manure. Like, I don't know about you, but man, that was like, hello, yay, it is because it's like, that's, that's kind of things I need, right?
And you'd have to find out where you can get it and go pick it up and have a truck and blah, blah, blah. So that was like gold to me. And, and when people do things like that for me, that's like the best. If you can give me, it's like a client home. You know, she always tips me, but then she'll bring me a big bag of like fiddleheads. And I looked at her one day and I hugged them. I was like, man, this is a massive amount of fiddleheads. And I was like, you know, you don't have to tip me with money when you tip me with something like this. Cause to me, this is the gold. This is the gold. Yeah. So for those of you that don't know what fiddleheads are, it's, it's a plant that grows in our forests here in the Maritimes. And if you pick them at the right time, you can eat them. And, and they're amazing. And they're very, very good.
A green. Yeah. A good green in your diet. Looks like a fern. It's so cool when you can forage and actually find food that is food. Yeah. Well, that's it. And like I'm looking for somebody in Nova Scotia to take me out foraging mushrooms and you do it in the wintertime. So I, I've been missing out the last couple of years, but it's something when you get to the stage of life that I'm at, it's like everything I can learn about nature and how to use it for my benefit. It's like, I'm in, you know, I want to learn. I love it. It makes me, it just excites me so much that, you know, we have all these things that it kind of feels like you're going ahead, but backwards in the sense that people did this before because they had to, but I do it because it makes, it brings me so much joy.
Yeah. And I think that's a, that's the point is that obviously we don't want to go back to a time where the, you know, our houses were dirt floors and, you know, poorly heated and we were sick and hygiene and food and all that. But we're in a time now that we, we can not only be grateful, but we also need balance. So we can't become too disconnected from real things that are happening. And what I find when, you know, in general, like it's us, but it's other people too, when people start paying attention to one thing. So it could be, we'll just use food as an example. That's a good example for us. When people start paying attention to that one thing and they say, well, I'm going to grow this today.
This, this year I'm just going to grow tomatoes. But then they go through the whole process. They reconnect with what that is. And when you eat what you grow, it's this different kind of energy connection that you have. And we can still have it to some level as long as the food that we're buying is grown responsibly. It's like, it's like if you're buying beef, but the cows have gone through a traumatic experience being killed and slaughtered, that trauma is in the meat and then you eat it. So think about what happens when you put your good energy into growing food and then you prepare it, you put more of your good energy into it and then you eat it. And a lot of people, it's just so good for you.
A lot of people have said to Kim and I that are, you know, when we cook, they're like, everything's so good. But that's because we are paying attention. We're not only we're getting good ingredients, but we're paying attention to every part of the process. Love. And putting our love into the food as we prepare it for people because that's one of the ways we show love. And then what happens? You ingest food, what's food? Energy. And do you want crappy energy? Or do you want good energy? Oh, just go to McDonald's and see how you feel after that. Right. And when you get as sensitive as we are, because we are, we work every day on being connected and we work every day on perspective and growth and evolving and stuff. So for me, it's like, you know, I'm always trying to learn how to do the next thing that's going to bring more health, more happy.
And, you know, when I was just doing herbs and I had, and I have every herb you can think of and multiple different varieties, but when we were cooking, we just run outside and we cut some herbs and we bring them in and we put them on the food. And then I started having a bigger amount, more volume. So I started drying them. I started making pastos with them. And then I learned that, well, you can make pasto and freeze it in ice cube trays and then put it in a baggie. We literally had pasto, I think all year. All year. We have dry herbs. We might've just ran out of a couple that we use a lot. But this year I'll have even more than I had before. And it's like the garlic. We have three varieties now. We're learning how to make scape oil with the scapes of the garlic.
Like, you can go as big as you want. And I make my own salad dressing. And I know sometimes I feel people, they look at me and go, oh, shut up. Like, God, are you bragging? And that's not what it is. It's that, if I could explain one thing, it's the joy that I get from living life, the way I do now. Because I always thought you had to work hard, work hard faster, more, you know, and that was my mentality because when we were young, we were poor, which I'm so grateful for. And, you know, my parents were young. They were parents, they were kids having kids. So they, you know, a lot of people make mistakes as they go, we all do. So they were learning as they go. But for me, I think because I'm in awareness and because I'm in an incredible, beautiful relationship, I really have the space to do more of what makes me happy and brings me joy.
And that's what I do. So that's what I want. That's what this podcast is all about. It's about Laura and I taking our time to sit and talk about topics that we think will benefit our listeners to just hear it. And if it makes one moment of your day a little brighter, a little happier, or even if you just like to laugh at our crazy asses, I mean, it's, it's what we're here for and what we, it really fills us. So for me, you know, you can start with a couple pots on your deck and I, there is nothing I love more than watching little kids learn about nature. And here's the truth. Kids, they don't like a lot of things because they're, they're at that stage where textures and all that stuff are hard. So, but it might plant a seed for when they get older.
Oh my gosh, you have to expose your kids to all kinds of things. Otherwise they will get older and they, and it's harder. It's harder when you get older to be exposed to so many new things. And so it is important that they have multiple, like multiple experiences when they're young. And I think that's what, you know, technology's kind of taken some of that away from kids. They're not getting all the outdoor time, the time in the grass, time in the dirt, you know. And let, you know, I will say this though that I do see a big change. Like, you know, I would say when my kids were small, we didn't know as much about what, like what technology was gonna do to kids. And what I see now in parents is I see them being much more conscious of screen time, much more conscious of making sure their kids are in activities that they enjoy in sports.
But really, is the world really falling apart? No. No. In fact, we are in a really good place in a lot of ways and we have space. Most of us, obviously, you know, with the exceptions of actual wars that are happening in the world and, you know, violence and things. Most of us in our time have space to grow and evolve. And this is a time of a wave of consciousness that's come in a higher consciousness. And it is our time to reconnect with ourselves. We have the space to do it. It's not as hard to survive as it used to be, you know. So now we can choose the ways we want to connect.
And isn't that beautiful? Isn't that privilege? Absolutely. Kim's just like taken away. It's, I think I could talk about this all day. It's just that for me, it's hard. It's hard on my heart when I see people talking about the world like it's in such a negative, bad place. And I just think in my head, I don't know what you're watching. I don't know what you're listening to, because that's not my experience. And I think it's a very dangerous place to be to think that the world is just no good. But, you know, possibly because, you know, you don't want to point fingers or anything, but possibly maybe we just need to put the phone down and go play with our kids and, you know, go for a hike or go walk a beach or go do something simple.
And you'd be shocked at how great you feel and how it energizes you. I know when my wife is too busy, I literally watch, I assess and then I'll say, what's your schedule like tomorrow? And then we will take off and we will go like for a two hour drive and stop at cafes and bakeries and little shops or whatever the day brings could be just beach hopping, but it's our soul needs to be uplifted and it needs to be nurtured and fed just like we eat food. So we need to have hope in our everyday life even if it's just a tiny morsel. That's right. So I hope everybody liked this podcast. It was one I was really excited to do because it's about we're here to elevate consciousness.
And some of us are, we take that a lot more serious than others. And for Laura and I, it's a very important topic and we deeply care about this beautiful world and the people that exist inside of it. So get out there today and connect with something that makes you feel real, makes you feel human, spend time with nature or whatever makes you feel connected. And I know that you're gonna appreciate that time and be grateful that we live in a time that we can, we have the freedom to do those things. Absolutely. Talk to you next week.
