Hello, I'm Kimberly and Laura and today we're talking about why spiritual people suffer with imposter syndrome. This has happened to all of us. Everybody, I think everybody has experienced it at some point and imposter syndrome for me, it's, it hit me really hard when I finished my, well, I think I had it all through university, but then hit me really hard when I finished my degree and I was trying to do everything. I was a mom and a wife and a teacher and I was trying to do it all. And now I like to say I'm a recovering superwoman. I like that, I was a superwoman.

There's a lot of superwoman. Because I was trying to hold everything up and do everything and all the balls in the air kind of thing. And I had a massive burnout, like massive. And I think when I look back on it, I feel like I was, I was doing readings at the time, but that didn't help my imposter syndrome any. Why not, Laura? Well, when you're moving into a place where you're trusting your intuition more, it feels so foreign. And to go from what you are reading in a book, or what you are listening to in even like a seminar, a class or something from a professor who's highly esteemed.

When you go from taking that kind of input into your life and making decisions to going into your heart and trying to make decisions, I think there's a totally different feeling and it feels very uncertain and very scary. And so then you're trying to always go back to, well, like what should I do? But instead of trusting what your heart's trying to tell you, sometimes you're listening to your head and then that's worse, you know. Lots of reasons why people get stuck in imposter syndrome, but I feel like in the spiritual context, I remember feeling like, who am I to do this?

I really felt like I'm just little Laura. Like why do I feel called on to do readings? Why is this important to the universe? Why does anybody care what I have to say? Like that's kind of where I was and I didn't understand all the reasons why, but I think a lot of people fall into that in this work in a helping field, in a spiritual field where trusting our intuition and we're trying to listen, but it feels so strange to move from what your head tells you to do to what your heart or your guides or your energy field is telling you to do. And really your intuition is your superpower.

And we've said that many times before, that's your personal empowerment, that's where enlightenment comes from and that's your guiding light. Like that's how you're guided through life, through connecting to your own energy field, your guides, your higher self and the universe. But it's so different from what we're taught. And if you're lucky enough to grow up in a family that allows you the space to trust your heart or trust your intuition and to be yourself, then you probably don't suffer as much imposter syndrome because you would trust things as they happened and you would trust that you were given everything you needed in every moment. What do you think like, cause I think about my childhood and my life and the way I looked at things and I actually, I didn't get an imposter syndrome until much, much later.

So when I first started out, I didn't have a lot of trust in, how would I say, let's see, education, I had a learning disability. So I was very insecure about how I put my words together, we'll say, or I always say that you have such a beautiful articulate language you speak, right? Like you just always have this beautiful way of saying things. And you put things in perspective for me very well. But I've always had a knowing, I've always really trusted my internal dialogue, I'll say. So when I first started my first business, I did renovations. Like I did painting, wallpaper and crack filling. I even did gardening. I did everything that was legal and things I didn't mind doing because I was building a business. And I did that business for almost 20 years and I've been in my naturopathic therapist business for almost 20 years, well, actually 20 years this year.

But the funny thing was when I first started the Chrysalis Wellness Center, I was like, I was going like a crazy person meaning busy, busy, busy. I was out there, I was meeting people. Whenever I got slow, I would go back into the city and go around to the feel good store in the market, meet people and interact with people. And it would create an energy that would bring more work to me. But never did any of that stuff. Like it didn't matter if it was the first business I had opened, I always was successful because I really knew that I was strong and that I would tackle anything. And I didn't mind hard work. So then I got into doing naturopathic therapy and I did tons of courses and actually went before a board to get my licensing, right?

Cause I kind of did a little different than most post-secondary. But never did I give myself the pat in the back for what I did because that's always been my way is just go, go, go. I don't really think too much about it. But, and I was busy in my therapy right off the bat. Like I had been working, I have been working full time for 20 years in the field not part-time, not on the side, not, you know it wasn't some little sidekick. It was a full-time business that I made full-time money at. But when COVID hit, I went and took a professional life coaching course. And boy, did I ever get imposter syndrome. You remember? Like it was crazy for me because I've always been a very confident person but never I've always been insecure about my learning disability because grammar and oh boy, that is not my superpower.

My superpower is in loving life and teaching people how to love their life. Yeah, I think connecting with people is a big deal for you. Yeah, so I really do well, especially one-on-one or in groups. When people see me and feel me, I have no problem. So I'm, you know, I'm doing this course. I'm doing the full one, you know I think it was a year long or something. But when I had to get on at the front of the class and it was my turn to talk, I literally, that deer in the headlight, that was it. I was like, what's happening to me? Inside I was going, this has never happened to me. So it was really different for me. It was really hard. And I know for you, it must have been crazy to see me because I was emotional too, insecurities.

Oh boy, it just lit up all the lights for me. But the way I look at things is I'm so grateful for that. And the funny thing is my coach, not only did he tell me in class that I was like a natural born coach, he wrote me a letter of recommendation, which was like pretty big deal. And then I went on to do some coaching with somebody else, mentorship and stuff. But the funny thing was when I talked to somebody, it doesn't hit me then. It's when I'm in front of a class. It really happened. Do you know what happened in your coaching though? It's a class of your peers. So it's different because everybody comes to the table with their set of skills.

Whereas if you're asked to speak at a workshop, then you are speaking on your expertise, but you're not speaking to a room full of experts. So it is different. And I found it really hard. For me, my problem was more the expectation that I had to be a superwoman. Right. But isn't that our expectation? So yeah, that was the beginning of my imposter syndrome, which I didn't even realize what I was doing. And then it changed a little bit into, like when I was doing readings full-time, because then it switched over a bit into who do you think you are to be doing this and why is spirit talking to you?

Why are you important and who cares what you have to say? Like it kind of flipped a little bit, but I realized through working, like I had to really push myself through some events and some things because I was having a really hard time. But I started to have, it was so interesting because I started to attract like really successful people as clients and people that, you know... And some pretty worldly ones too. Some people that, yeah, and people that you wouldn't expect would want to talk to a psychic, I guess, like, I'm talking CEOs and people that run international businesses and like, or experts in their field, you know, lawyers, doctors, pharmacists, like all these people were coming into my life and I had this whole string of psychologists as clients.

That would have been intimidating. But it was a theme for a while. People were booking with me and then I'd find out they were in psychology or working as a psychologist. So after a while, I kept getting the message that I wouldn't be put in these positions unless I was, unless I could offer something, unless I was there to give the person the message they need to hear. And maybe I was the person to do it in that moment. It didn't mean that I was more special than other people or it didn't mean that I had an ability that was better than anybody else. Like it's not about letting your ego conduct this process. It was more about realizing that everybody has the same potential to do great things, you know, or they also the realization that I had moved through many, many past lives to prepare me for this one.

And when you begin to trust your path and you begin to trust that you were given everything you need to walk on that path successfully, you get to see, it sort of opens up more doors for you. So you get to see your worth. You get to see, you know, you are the expert in your field, you know. And people- Well, because it's your experience and you're the expert in. Yeah. But I'm gonna tell ya. That burnout that I had where everything just totally collapsed in my life, it took me, I would say it probably took me three years to recover. It was pretty terrible. And in that three years, lots of life stuff happened. You know, my marriage ended, I lost a baby. There was like tons of things that happened. And I was completely spent.

But I was the person that I just decided I'd want to do something and I'd find a way to do it. So earlier in life, I, as soon as I could work, I had a job. And I had jobs, I started working when I was 12 babysitting and working at a daycare. And I did whatever I could. And then once I was 16, I never just had one job. Yeah, me neither. I always had two or three jobs on the go plus going to school full time. And then without any break, because that's not Laura, that's not Laura's style, Laura doesn't take breaks. I decided, well, let's try to have a baby while I'm in university. So I was pregnant in my last year of university.

And I didn't have a full maternity leave. And I went back to work when, you know, Val was just six months old. And I think I went back to work when Luke was five months old. So I didn't have, I was looking at my other friends going, well, how did they get a whole year and I didn't, I didn't get that stuff. But I was a workaholic and the realization that I was workaholic was hard on me because I realized where it came from. It came from the insecurity that I felt like I had to be perfect. And I had to have everything in line and everything organized all the time. And I'm gonna, I'm here to tell you, I know there's amazing women out there that they rise to the occasion, but I'm telling you, you don't have to. You don't have to do everything. You don't have to have everything perfect to the outside world.

It just has to be perfect for you. And I would say I went through a lot of the same thing as you, just, just different work, right? And I think the thing I love about the time we're in right now is I'm, I've always been a happy person. My nature is to be happy. I love deeply, but I've built some pretty solid boundaries around how to keep myself there, right? Because I do love big, but I'm not allowing people to take something that I've worked my whole life to build. And I actually love everything about myself today. And I love this new energy 2026. I love the Lions portal. I love all these new things that are coming in because the energy feels new. It feels lighter.

It feels more expansive. It feels like I'm like a ridiculously excited person. I feel like it's go time, you know? It's like, even today, I went down to my office, you were working and I had worked earlier and I had some time. And after I was done with my clients, I started cleaning out my drawers. And I couldn't even help myself. It just like went from this to this to this. And I was organizing things and I was just, just information coming in, but really cool, like what's gonna help me? What's gonna push me forward and not even pushing because I don't feel like push is even the right word. I just feel this, I feel this new energy that just feels like it's shifting in a way that there's a lightness to it.

There's a step there, there's another step. I'm so glad that you mentioned that because one of the reasons why I wanted to talk about this today is because we have a partial solar eclipse in Nova Scotia tomorrow, but it's a full solar eclipse in other places in the world. But that solar eclipse is bringing in some really cool energy. And I believe that it will help dispel that feeling of imposter syndrome for a lot of people. And I'm gonna explain it, but the energy of the eclipse is actually removing performance anxiety, which is huge, right? A lot of people have that. That is going to be dissipated. And the idea that we need validation for what we do, that also is decreasing.

Well, don't get fine because you and I've had a lot of conversations lately, but like a lot of new energy this year, period. It started off rocky, but then it's like little things kept getting better and better. And I feel like it doesn't even feel like moving forward is in a stressful way. It's just like, yeah, this is just happening and you're enjoying moments more. And there's not that anxiety that you used to have. It's like, you kind of realize now, and I tend to believe sometimes as we get older too, that's a part of the gift of getting older is that, you don't care about the things you used to care about as much. You've had enough experience of life. So it's not just that there's this new, beautiful energy and there's been all of this.

You know, that's probably a next week podcast, what's happening in the world and some of the big names and politics and things that are happening, even that feels like it's shifting. Well, that's the other theme of this eclipse is that we question leadership. So you're questioning leadership right now because we are moving to a space of truth and authenticity. So when that's not presented to us, it automatically feels like your energy field kind of has like a reaction to it. Like a little bit of a buzz, a little bit of like allergic kind of reaction to things that are not true. So what an amazing opening this eclipse is gonna create for us as people that work in this field and we work in the spiritual realm, we work in energetic healing, we're in the place of empowering people, enlightening people, working in that field and it makes you very susceptible to imposter syndrome.

I don't even like the term imposter syndrome, can I just stop for a second and just say, I hate this term, but I understand it, I understand what it's trying to explain, but what it does is it takes responsibility away from the system of patriarchy. Imposter syndrome, sorry, is used by the patriarchy to control us. So this idea that you're not good enough, this idea that you can't do it, you don't have the skills to do that, who are you to say those things or why should they believe you or wait until they find out you're really a fake. That really is dissipating though, you can really feel it, that's beautiful. This eclipse is bringing in all the energy that can totally demolish this imposter syndrome phenomenon.

Like it's just flattening. Because nobody knows you better than you and nobody knows all of the things, like even being some things that used to annoy or kind of make you a little angry before. I'm noticing it and it's not one thing here and one thing there, it's lots of things all the time. And I find that my energy is more even, it's more solid, it has a calmer tone to it, I'll say. And it's like that isn't any longer even worth my time to think about it. That's the shift though, that's the shift, right? It's just so beautiful. It's like the discernment of your energy investments. Where are your energy investments and what do you want to invest in?

And it's very calm, it's a very calm feeling of I have control over my own energy field. And really imposter syndrome is just a creation of discrimination. It's a creation of sexism and racism. Yeah, exactly. It's the byproduct, you know? So if you think about the ideas, the cultural conditioning that we've been through, it's really teaching us that this is what, this is the role for women and this is the role for men. I'm not to say that men don't experience imposter syndrome, but women experience it on a much greater scale. And it's because we're told that we're not as good.

That is really the message. And then we can get really deep into this and there's other things that come up. But if you think about it this way, you think that there could be something could come up. Like you could, what can initiate imposter syndrome? Something can come up in your life like a new role or a new job. Which, yeah, which is exactly what happened to me. Right, so with you, you're taking on coaching, it's brand new to you and you're feeling maybe like insecure about your place in the class. But I, correct me if I'm wrong, but by the end of the class, did you realize that you did fit? Oh, absolutely. But again, it is this what you're taught, right?

Cause one thing about me was, I think because my childhood was the way it was, I was like somebody coming out of the gate going, good luck trying to stop me, right? So I always had that energy that no matter what I put my mind to, I could do. So I had a lot of confidence in myself, but I didn't have a lot of confidence because not only do I have a learning disability, but most people in my father's side of the family have it. So you had confidence in your physical ability and strength, ability, your resilience. Even my gift, like I've known that since I was a kid. But lacking a little bit of that confidence in your academic ability. Right. Absolutely. And that's exactly where it hit me. And you went back to school. So exactly.

And I would say that if I was to be honest, I would be that geek today cause I love learning. I'm always, I'm always studying about mushrooms and tinctures and how we can take things from the earth and heal. And like I now I'm 58 years old. I really don't care if somebody, obviously you want people to like you, but I'm not going to change who I am to get you to like me. I love me. I've worked on me a long time, but I know real easy and quick when I'm talking to somebody, I can really tell what kind of insecurity they have because of where they're going with the conversation. And it's nowhere I ever want to go. Yeah, right. So that's one of those situations where you say, this isn't really about me.

No, no. But it's interesting cause I just look at where we're going and we know like a lot of, there's a lot of women in the field we're in because they're caregivers because they're compassionate and they want to help. But when you really care about what you're doing on a deep soul level, we do question if we're doing things the right way. We do question if this is going to be good enough, you know, because it means more to you. Right. Cause you care about how you're doing. You care about how you wanna represent yourself to people. So how many people that move from, maybe they have moved from a corporate job into a more spiritual role, you know, or a facilitator or a healer or whatever.

So how many people move from something where there's very like little personal responsibility for other people's wellbeing. And maybe they didn't care so much about the corporate world, but they really care about this, this movement into the next phase of their life is meaningful to them. And then how many people get stuck because they go, well, I really feel like this is right for me, but really what can I offer the world? What does the world really need for me? And or can I really do this? Or do I have the ability to do this? Or what does it even matter? And the reason you're feeling all those things is because it is so big that you do what you came here to do. And so Wayne Dyer always, I always remember what he said, he always said, do not die with your music inside of you.

And this is it. Each of us is a unique energy signature. And we are like tuning forks out there, vibrating, you know? But if you're not doing well, if you're either, if you're hard on yourself, if your energy's low, that tuning forks not gonna sound very loud. So the idea is that you do things that fill you up, that make you inspired, give you passion and fire, so that you can sing, so that your vibration sings in the universe. And your vibration is the only vibration that sounds like that. And it's all up to you to make it sing. So when we are faced with imposter syndrome, if we could just stop for a minute and just tell ourselves that the reason I'm questioning this and the reason I feel this way is because it's so important.

And I love how you and I have been in this field full-time for 20 years, but we still, we're still human, we still have these moments. So sometimes it's my job to say to you, hello, do you see how much you've created? You had a TV show, you were on next level soul, you've developed your own courses and mentorship. And then the last four years, I've been going back and forth working in New Brunswick and I've been doing lots of other things, but I renovated our whole house. You created a whole product line of natural products. Right. But I don't give myself a pat in the back about that. Well, I'm patting you on the back right now, so you're gonna listen, right? So you created a healing practice in New Brunswick, but you also created one here in Halifax.

You have coached many people. I know this because I'm in the field, I know how hard it is to be a coach and I know how hard it is to move forward as a coach. I've coached many coaches, okay? So you have your own coaching practice, you have your own natural product line, like that just keeps growing all the time. Kim will say to me, she's like, well, I had this idea and I'm gonna do this. So the last one was SAFs. And she said, I'm gonna make these healing SAFs. And I was like, oh, cool. I thought like one or two. No, my wife makes four, five, six stiffered varieties because that's her style, right? And so I know you and I know that you never stop.

And this host is an example of that because we have in a very short amount of time created a beautiful home out of just a frame. This host was just the frame, the foundation and we've built a beautiful home in a very short amount of time because of your dedication. So everywhere we go, this is a joke between us, but everywhere we have gone and lived, even sometimes just camped, we left that place looking better than when we got there. Every single time, every host we've lived in, every place we've stayed, it's a joke between us. But it's a good thing. Like it's kind of become something that we do on purpose, but we always leave places better than how we found it.

And that actually was a mantra of mine when I started doing readings. I always said, as long as people feel better after the reading than when we started, that I'm doing something right. Exactly. So I always had that in the back of my head that that was part of my intention. Well, the beautiful thing about me is that I really, Spirit is my best buddy. And that's who I listen to, way more than I listen to people. And I don't mean that in a disrespectful way. There's people I listen to, obviously, but I hope you listen to me sometimes. Oh, I absolutely listen to you. And the beauty of being in a healthy relationship is that your partner does not ask you to be anything less than everything you are. And I think that's the most beautiful thing about our relationship is that I noticed right off the bat that you weren't like jokingly saying something negative about me or throwing little digs in here and there or whatever.

And matter of fact, one of the beautiful things about having a beautiful relationship is that in your sessions or when you were teaching, I would hear you repeat things that I had told you or we had talked about. So I also knew that you respected me deeply to reuse something that I had said in a conversation with you and vice versa. That happens to us all the time. So I think that's beautiful. I also think it's beautiful when we have company over who within minutes of being on the property in the house outside the house, whatever, on the deck in the gardens, they literally you can feel them feeling the essence of what we've created here.

And there is no greater reward in life than people feeling your real true existence of who you are and the imprint you're trying to leave on this world. I feel it all the time. So I know that we're on the right track and I, the old me, I was never much of a worrier. But I don't, anytime I have a thought, whether it's about money or things or something coming or something we need to do, there'll be that initial couple second where I'll have the reality of what it is. And there might be a second of like a thought or feeling in a negative way like, oh God, we got to this. But it immediately is gone because spirit comes in and it's like this big wrap around of energy where it's like, you do not have to worry.

Everything you need is already on its way. And it's just timing is something we can't control. So we can't control what things show up first or how they impact us immediately, whether they take one day, one week, one month, one year. That's not our control. Our control is to trust ourselves and to keep moving forward. But it's not our job to say, hey, I want it right now. I know that's the internet and that's the old Google. You just punch it in and get the message back. But that's not real life. Real life is, you have to earn your stripes sometimes. Sometimes you have to give yourself time to heal, time to expand, time to shift. And when you're in a place where I'm so grateful for my life now, once I've gotten past all the things we judge yourself on, because we are programmed to be super women.

Not only women used to stay home, take care of their kids, but let's be honest, I know a lot of older people are always complaining and saying, oh, those kids, if their mother was home taking care of them, it would be much better. But that's not exactly what's happening. Women have to work because everything's so bloody expensive today. And there's more going on. And there's lots of places I could go with that. But people want their kids to be in sports because they want to keep them out of trouble. They want to keep them interactive. They want to keep them working out physical activity. Like everyone's trying to do their best. Even if we don't see it that way, that person, I think about my mother being 16 when she had her first child and 17 with her second and 18 with her third and 21, four kids, 98 pounds, soken wet.

And they were kids bringing up kids and there was loads of dysfunctional mental illness and scarcity. But for me, my mother is always gonna be my hero because she lived and her whole life was about making sure she brought her kids from here to there. And that's all she cared about. And she suffered and she took on lots to get there. But, and it's beautiful to be in this work, to feel her in the afterlife so happy and free. Because that is, I just feel like it's so important when you can have a connection to source and universal consciousness, it's the same thing. Because it's this confidence that nothing on this earth can teach you.

Well, and that trust is what I think we miss when we work from our head only. Right. So you were, you mentioned so many good things. I was trying to keep track of everything. But you were talking about how the importance of this, it's too important for us to, like we, it's too important for us to allow our true self, vote in this world. It's just too important. You can't hold back what you came here to do. If we can list many people that were influential in kind of developing and evolving us as humans. And what if any one of those persons, people did not had imposter syndrome and they just gave up or they stayed home or they didn't talk or, you know, that's why it's so important that we all allow our true self to be in this world.

And that's why this, we don't, we are, you came to this place through, you know, age, and like experience and learning that you didn't have to worry about other people's opinions of you. Well, it's not my business. Well, yeah, but you weren't seeking that, right? And that energy is being offered to us now on a wide scale to let go of how other people view you and to be open enough to say what I have to say matters. What I have to do in this world matters. And I am the one that gets to do it. And it's not, this is, we're shedding like egoic ideas. Big time. This is not a thing where you believe you are the one and the only one.

It's not that. It's that we know we have something to offer. And if we don't do it, who else is gonna do it? If you have a unique energy signature and you hide it from the world, then who else can present what you have? No one else. So the world goes without it. Well, it's just like teaching Reiki, right? Like I'm a Reiki master teacher and I've been so busy with other things. I've forgotten about that in a way, right? And then I started to teach again the spring, and it was so big for me. I enjoyed it so much. And some crazy things happened after it. But it is so important. There's so many people that need to hear our story. There's so many people that need to be empowered in a way that's beautiful and easy.

And women need women. I mean, men need men too. That's not the conversation right now, but we need each other. And, you know, I'm one of these crazy people that I loved being pregnant. I loved being a mom. I loved being a grandmother. And my mother did not get to enjoy all those things because she was in it full force, just trying to survive all the time. She didn't have the luxury I feel like I have, you know? Or we have. Because I think so many people today have more, what's the word? Like things and stuff to do things for us, you know? And I just have so much respect for the women before us that have kind of set the staging for us. Yeah.

And here's the thing is that we are moving to, like we May never make it to a matriarchal society in our lifetime, but the matriarchal society is not about putting men down. Absolutely. It's not about being above men. A matriarchal system works on teamwork and partnership and equal views. And so maybe we don't need to call it that. We don't need to say it's the matriarchal movement, but we need to know that we all need each other. And we do need each other. And we're all like evenly skilled and evenly able and also able to hold the responsibility.

Because I think that's part of what we don't see is that people are too willing to give up the responsibility to the system. They're too willing to say, well, that's too hard for me. I don't want to bear that responsibility. But if the patriarchal system has all the responsibility and they're holding it for you and you're going, well, I don't really want it anyway, then that's not okay either. And that's how the patriarchal system has sort of, gained a lot of control because people have given it up. They've given it up to the system. So I think we have to understand that imposter syndrome is a process of you realizing that you want to be grounded in what you're doing. You want to experience humility, but you also know, you also have to realize how important it is, what you're doing.

And the other thing that really opened my eyes, because when I first started doing readings, I thought, I don't know what the heck I'm doing. Why do these people care what I say? This was like when I first started, I was like, I'm just gonna fake it till I make it, I guess. Because I don't really know. I didn't realize how amazing my intuition actually was. And in the beginning, I remember, kind of like you do like a little review after a reading or something and I'd be really critical of myself. And then I'd hear back from the person three days later and they'd be like, that was the best reading I ever had. And I was like, how? But I couldn't see what I was doing. I couldn't see outside of my own self and how hard I was on myself.

And I also was a perfectionist, had very high standards for myself, but I didn't see how well my intuition was working. But one thing that helped me actually work through this was to understand that each of us is an energy system and each of us is vibrating a certain frequency. And so if I'm vibrating something, it's because I know it. I know it to the depth of my being. If somebody is attracted to me to have a reading for me, they're only attracted to me for what I actually know because I can't vibrate what I don't know. Right. So that was a huge awareness for me. And I really had to think about it. Like when it first came to me, it took me a while to absorb it. I was like, okay, so I'm vibrating what I know.

And then subconsciously, all these people out there can feel my vibration. And then they're pulled towards me because I have something to give them. I have something to offer them. And I cannot tell you how many times I've heard from clients say, I had to book a reading with you because I knew you had something to tell me. Like it's almost every time. I knew you had even my clients that come back, my regular clients, they say, oh, I just knew. I just knew it was time to talk to you. You needed to tell me something. So I, that realization that I could not, I could not attract people or I couldn't vibrate what I didn't know. That was huge for me. So I was like, well, so all these people are actually coming to me for what I know.

Like this is all like pre-ordained. It's not like they just woke up one morning and said, I'm gonna book a reading. Oh, there's this girl, Laura. Yeah. You know, it wasn't that. This was already planned somewhere in the universe. Like some universal plan was already at play. Well, and that goes back to, for me, trusting what we came here to do is so much bigger than we think. And we don't realize it till we get into these moments. I know when I had imposter syndrome with coaching, you know, it took me a little while. And then I started thinking, who's better at teaching this than me using the experiences that I've had. Cause that's all I want. I want to use my experience cause all coaches are different, I would say. All psychic mediums can be different.

It's about how you use your gift to connect with the world. And for me, it's always been connecting with the earth, being grounded. Cause that's a very important thing. I don't feel well if I'm not grounded. And when you're grounded, where are you? You're in the present. Right. And you're connected to source. Spirit, universal consciousness, whatever you want to call it. Right. So you're co-creating with the universe. Right. You're co-creating with the nature, with your environment. You're grounded and centered. And you're in the present moment. And that's really important for somebody who's suffered from imposter syndrome to bring yourself to the present. Forget about the past. Forget about past knowings behavior because you're not there anymore.

Right. And if you're connecting with the universe, that means you're co-creating with the divine. You do really think they're going to let you down? No. Do you really think that you're going to mess up or, you know, have this terrible experience? Most likely not, you know? Like, I know all of us have to be challenged, but for the most part, you are supported. And so that realization in the present moment that you're supported is, it's really important. And it's really important to allow the universe space to co-create with you that you don't fill up all the space with all the jobs and the to-do lists and everything that you have to do because when you fill up all the energetic space, the universe has nowhere to work. Leave the blank space, you know, leave the blank space for that to happen.

And I think pulling yourself into your reality is important because what do we do? We always think the worst. Right. We always remember every time we failed or every time somebody was mad at us, you know? Maybe it's just better, like, if you give yourself a pat on the back, because I think you mentioned that too, about how we have to sometimes pull ourselves to the present and realize, wait, I did this, I did that, I did this, I did that. Well, what's that saying, the mountains you've climbed? Like, we always get stuck in the ones we're on. We're facing, right? But what about all the ones we've climbed? What about all the successes we've had? It doesn't matter if they're big or small, they're still valuable. Well, yeah, that's it. Like, I think we just have such, like, short-sighted vision sometimes when it comes to our own lives.

And we're good. Sometimes we can help a friend, no problem. Like, you know, a friend comes to you, they say, oh, what do I do about this, this job, that job, or this relationship, that relationship, or whatever. And it's like, we have, we have 2020 vision. We have perspective. We don't have emotions in the way so we can help them. But what happens when we're there? We get stuck in our insecurities because they're the loudest voice. Also, when we're just talking to somebody and there's no money exchange, we're not putting that value, that nervousness, that expectation on it, as we do when we're making money and it's our business. And listen, that is a real problem with spiritual entrepreneurs because they have a hard time charging money because money means responsibility. Which I don't, I don't understand that because I've worked, I've been an entrepreneur all my life.

And I have always worked for myself. And I've just always known that whatever I put my mind to, I can do because I believe that I'm being backed by spirit. So how could I fail if I have them on my side? And if I listen to them, then like it's just to be a better listener with humans. But if you live in the place of trust, most things work out, you don't like it most of the time. And I don't think everybody has the easiest time doing that but we're here to tell you, you can get there. Well, quiet mind is the, is, and I mean, we can have a busy mind but still need to have moments of quiet because that's where the answers are. Yeah, so when we talk about developing intuition allowing that personal power to come forward, it really is about spending time alone.

I don't think people understand the value of alone time and how you recoup your energy field. And the things that you're doing to connect and recoup, like I always say, if you feel like overwhelmed, you know, there's so many things you can do, right? You can do this energy healing, you can listen to this meditation, you can do this release activity, there's so many things, but what about just going and sitting outside? And that's where it's at. Yeah, that's where it's at because the last few years I've done a lot of gardening but not as much as I've done this year. And I keep expanding because, you know, Spirit has told me that they're like, you know, you're not gonna get rich doing this, but this is something that's gonna be very good for your soul and it's gonna be very good for people.

But it's to bring people on site to teach them about making their own tinctures or their own salves or their own lotions or making their own tea or just growing herbs and how they can help you. So I've been really pushing it to try to get these medicinal plants in the ground stinging. It's so funny, I knew I needed stinging nettle. Well, oh my God, it keeps showing up everywhere. And we're joking about it because it's in the rose bush pots. It's in with the tomato plants. It's like coming up everywhere and it's just a little bit here, a little bit there. So I took all the little babies and I put them in one spot. You said you wanted stinging nettle. And now it's coming everywhere. And we do have to like keep it in one spot because it will sting you.

It's so funny that something that's so healthy for you and so medicinal is so it's like being stung by a jellyfish. Like it's just, it is a terrible thing. You wouldn't want a kid to grab it. So, for me, it's just that if I love this so much and this has brought me so much joy then wouldn't I just love to pass that on to people? So, and then periodically throughout the year I can teach and we can do wellness retreats and all these things. So, you know, the more you develop your gift the more you develop your connection the bigger your life gets. And the thing that I would, I absolutely know you would agree with me is, you know, we don't work the way we used to. We really enjoy a big life when you say, and I mean, we have the time and we value things differently.

Yeah, I would say what we do is we have invested our energy where it wants, where we want to invest. Right. And when you are invested and passionate about what you're doing it doesn't matter how much time goes by it doesn't matter what the clock tells you. Right. So one to two hours of focus work a day is enough. It's enough. It's enough if you love what you're doing and you're, you know, just focused on what you're doing. But yeah, we're not, that's the problem part of the problem with this girl boss kind of movement that's happened. It kind of teaches you like hustle, you know, gotta have a side hustle, gotta work eight hours a week to make this happen. And I'm here to tell you that you do not have to work 80 hours a week.

You just have to find the right niche, the right work for you. And when you find the right work, you can, you can make as much as you need to. And that's like we're getting kind of onto money and stuff but there is enough money in the world for everyone. Absolutely. And money, money with that one. Money has become more of a perception. Like it's not so much, you know, cash in hand, although I think we should be using more cash, but now it's like electronic, you know, and money is created now. Like, you know, governments are creating money. They don't always have the gold bars to back up, right? So that's the thing. I think we need to know that if money is now becoming electronic, that's energy and that's currency.

And we can create that. We can be abundant and we can bring the flow of abundance towards us if we need to. And as far as imposter syndrome, I just have to say, if you're suffering from this, if this has really, you know, been a struggle for you, whether it's, you know, in a nine to five job or whether it's in a business that you're doing or it's a spiritual endeavor or a spiritual entrepreneurship, just show up. Just try, just show up. That's my advice because the more that you show up for yourself and for the other people that are around you, the less this imposter syndrome will be a problem. Just continue to show up. Don't judge yourself.

Don't be hard on yourself. Just show up, do the best you can do. And over time it works itself out. It really does. It does. And I think the thing with me was I would, when I would get it, cause I still got it different times. I'd have, I'd have a client and they would have a big title, we'll say, right? And I'd be like, Oh God, I'm talking to this person. That's blah, blah, blah, right? I used to get that way when I was asked to read a reader. I'd be like, Oh God. They know, they know how to do this themselves. Why are they asking me? I don't, what can I tell them? They don't already know. But yeah, I would just, I would just take a couple of deep breaths and ground myself. And then I would just think about, you know, why I'm in the seat in the first place and why I chose to do it. Well, I did the universe put you in that position.

Yeah, both. Why did the universe choose it? And why did I follow that path? Because I heard it. You know it. So you can't not do it. And one thing that you and I've never worried about and I've been this way all my life, but I never was the person to worry about competition because, you know, you think about what I was in renovations first. Well, how many people are in that? And I was in a men's field. So I had to put up with some men on different construction sites that were pretty ignorant, but I'm a big girl. So the universe set me up for this life. You know, I've been set up. I'm six feet tall. I'm not a little woman. And I do not get, I didn't get picked on the way some people did, but I still get picked on in different ways. We all do.

It happens to all of us. I think when we think we're separate from these things, then we're in trouble. Oh, but yes. And seriously, do not compare yourself to other people. Do not compare yourself. There's no competition. No. Competition is a false, it's a false thing. Comparison can really make imposter syndrome unbearable. And you, if you go down that road, it's going to be really hard. And I would say just don't, don't even compare yourself to other people. Just, Well, it doesn't work. Just do what you do the best you can do it and have an intention to strive for improvement. But you don't have to meet anyone else's standards.

And if you have high standards for yourself, you May want to look at those and see if they're realistic. You know, is it realistic? I saw this post last week, I think. And it was like a women's female entrepreneurship kind of Instagram page. And the post just said, it's impossible for you to get your 20,000 steps in, cook three nutritious meals for your kids, take them to all their activities, and you work your eight to 10 hours at work and make sure that, you know, and the host is clean and you did, and you did your workouts and your meditations. And like, basically the point was that it's, it's impossible for you to do all those things in one day. And have a good relationship because that's the thing that's what's taking the hit.

I see it all the time. I see everybody trying so hard to, you know, to be the good mom and the good father and doing all this stuff. But by the end of the day, I don't know who you, but I, when we're home and I see my son in this way after four kids and they used to have two dogs and a cat. And, you know, I would watch them and think, oh dear God, they're wonder at night. They're white, they're exhausted. They have no time. They're like on the couch looking at each other like, hello, I love you, but I can't move. I can't even lift my arm right now. So let's just watch something that's like mindless and we can just fall asleep because it's so true. And people wonder why they get to the age of being middle age and they're not happy. It's because we have to, have to, have to remember, nurture what's important to you, nurture.

You know, I know my wife and my wife knows me. So if either one of us need a day off or a beach day or a drive to Wolfville or wherever, you just gotta take it. And I mean, it's so funny because every time we go away, we just went to PEI with my son and his wife and the four kids and they'll say, do you guys mind, you know, if we can go like sneak off and go golfing, do you think we really care? Cause there's a pool and there's washer toss and there's a playground and we can just stay right here. See you later, go. No different than if we're at their house, take off. We'll have a movie night with the kids and have our own fun without them. So I think sometimes we all have to just think, if you don't put gas in the car, the gas, the car's not going anywhere.

If you don't put it, something into you, you're not going to be able to succeed in your life. And if you don't put, if you don't nurture your poor little beautiful kids, they're going to be helpless growing up. And what about your, your relationship to your, your spouse or your partner, you know? What's more important? Is it more important that you made a beautiful supper and your host is spotless or that your kids are happy and your spouse is happy? So it's always like weighing out those priorities and knowing what's important. And you can't get that time back. And oh my gosh, I know from trying to do every, everything. And because a lot of teachers would relate to this, I spent a lot of, of my energy on other people's kids. And I feel like I, I did my best with my kids, but I did feel like I missed some things.

Every mother feels that way. Yeah. Like it just felt like I didn't get to do certain things because I was so busy. So, you know, the time goes by really fast and you really do want to be present as much as possible. You want to be there, you want to enjoy it. And I, I thankfully did change like midstream and change the way I was working and doing things. And I feel like after that point that I got a lot of time with my kids. So it's like, you know, it's like how, how you decide, build your life the way you want to. But my thing is really, it's really important to know that every single one of us has a voice and has that song, that music inside of us. And the world needs to hear that.

The world needs to hear what you came here for. And it's, it's so needed. So needed. Right. Well, we'll be back next week with another great talk.
